Beast in a GOOD way! I have a feeling this will surprise a lot of people when it's built.

Are you sure The General, you don't have a thing against Big Black Birds?

My only issue is the color. I have always disliked black skyscrapers. Black and Skyscraper do not go together well, especially in Hot Texas. Big, black, bulky, flat topped on a tall tower, will not add positive adjectives to our skyline in my opinion.

Yeah I'm sure. To be true to myself, I didn't like it from the beginning. It hasn't grown on me. I certainly agree with you about the color. I might hate it less without the set back even though that's what probably gives it any character. It's big, thick, bulky and chunky. I do like the height. But I for one cannot see the resemblance to that big black bird thingy. All this is going to do is block out the sun which actually may be a good thing.

I'm gonna be in the minority and say i like this one a lot, even if it is a little too chunky. I've always loved black skyscrapers like the Sears Tower/JHC and ATX has been looking more and more like Vancouver and Miami lately with all the uninspiring blue glass condo towers. This will be good to break it up a little.

Some buildings aren't always going to be exceptional. But despite that they do create for a unique addition to the skyline that looks good overall. There's plenty of towers that prove this. Texas current largest tower in Houston, ain't exactly pretty. But it looks good for the skyline. I've never exactly been a fan of San Francisco's Trans America Pyramid as a stand alone tower. It's boring to me, especially its detail. Not to mention, at street level, there's not much going on with it. But it looks great on the skyline and I still wouldn't wanna change it.

And maybe a lot might disagree with me here but I have never ever ever been a fan of Austin's towers on Congress and Cesar Chavez, (One eleven Congress and 100 Congress). They just don't do it for me. But I wouldn't wanna change it because they're sort of stapled into our memories. Every skyline shot they are always featured, new and old.

This one might be one of those types of towers. It will create for more texture and variation to the skyline and no one will be displeased with it.

They should just put some eyes on it and get it over with.

This building isn't for me. I know some people like it--the same people who probably enjoy rothkos and other forms of abstract expressionism. Then again, I would buy a couple rothko prints to hang in my apartment-at least they're somewhat pleasing to look at. That's more than I can say about this building.

Like the new design but wish we could have both of these buildings. Curiously they have this one at 43 stories but with as much or more square footage? Hopefully it remains higher than 700 feet.

^^^What? What? What?

WOW! I love it! It's going to look fantastic next to The Perennial.

Did it loose height? Towers says it's now 43 stories tall. This may now be in the 660'-670' range. Shoot - if that's the case. However, we get a much nicer tower.

I love it! The cutaways are great.

The thing I like the most about that first rendering though is the plethora of street-level trees; that looks nice, we should do that.

Was just thinking that this is going to echo the Perennial really well.

660'-670' (my guess). This is an office tower - so, FTF heights are in the 15' ballpark.

We seem to have lost two 700 footers between this and the final version of the Perennial. But two ~650' towers that look like these two is a win.

This is sick. I liked the previous iteration but I think this is still another step up. (Can we keep both and get rid of 321 w 6th?)

It seems like the race in office real estate now is offering more and more outdoor space. A trend that had been making for more interesting architecture, makes a lot of sense in Austin's climate (vs. say NYC), and is coming at the perfect time for a booming Austin.

Well...neither of these has been confirmed as being shrinking below 700'. I'm keeping my hopes up that, at least, The Perennial is still just above 700'.
