I just checked the map for all the Sizzler locations in the US, and aside from a single location in Florida, all the others are in the west, mostly in California. I think this fact makes the possibility of Sizzler as being the Hyatt Place restaurant most unlikely.

Agreed. I came to the same conclusion. He was adamant it was the first one in canada. And Applebee’s is already in canada ,but you never know doesn’t seem the fit there neighbourhood grill model, but they are owned by IHOP so that is a distinct possiblity,

Sizzler? Which will mostly be the reaction of most Monctonians who are not members of SSP.

That would be extremely risky business to bring an unknown restaurant franchise from western USA to Canada and especially to the east coast of Canada.

That won't be my reaction. I made an account to say I fully support Sizzler. As a former Californian I have good memories of my great-grandmother taking me to Sizzler once a month. It's just kind of an average suburban steakhouse in the US but as a kid it was pretty darn fancy!

U.S. based restaurant chain

I've been told it is a Florida based restaurant chain. With this, we can begin to narrow this thing down more.

If that is the case, Carrabba's Italian Grill fits the bill.

Owned by the parent company of Outback Steakhouse (Bloomin Brands) it has 247 locations and is based in Florida. The only international location is in Brazil.

Not that well known in this area, though.

My money is on Tony Roma's. Only brand I've heard of, and they have 21 Canadian locations.

They've started adding the metal framing that will support the glass areas in the rendering. Adds about another floor of height

Hyatt Place Hotel - current status:

As lirette pointed out, they are starting to work on some of the architectural adornments of the building, which will eventually make the project look less "boxey", and give the building a little additional height.

is it my imagination or is there more ceiling height to the 4th floor than the 2nd and 3rd?

I thought so too.

It's the top floor - maybe these are the "premium executive suites"...........

Alternatively, additional height to accommodate horizontally-mounted utilities above the ceiling.

It was too late this evening to snap a photo, but a large part of the structural steel forming the front footprint of the Hyatt Place Hotel was installed today. We're starting to get the idea of what the final form of the hotel will be.

Hyatt Place Hotel - a couple of photos from today:

In the second photo, you can see where the structural steel is being added in front of the concrete superstructure of the building, forming the final footprint. This is not yet complete, but you can see how it adds to the building and helps to give an idea of the final form of the building.

This Hotel isn't going to be nearly as big as some would have liked. (Some say it should be 6-8 floors) I wonder if that has impacted the decision of others to go ahead with their plans. The Hilton Garden Inn now being built & Home 2 Suites by Hilton planned for later. Has it's smaller scale actually helped other projects go forward?

A few more pictures of the Hyatt Place Hotel, from the Rice Contracting website. Philbilly posted the link above, but I thought I would bring the images over here.
