We've long since moved past this kind of shite in Calgary.

As they say here in China - 哎呀!Ai Ya! Or to paraphrase Samir from Office Space, "This building, it is horrible."

Its all about raising the profile of the site
If they were seriously considering constructing a building, they would be talking to an architecture firm with experience with at least one high rise office. GMH is a drafting company experienced at designing cookie cutter walk up apartment buildings. That is all they pretty much do. I cant imagine them being responsible for a 28 storey office tower.
Its not happening
You better hope you're right on this one!!!

Thats what we all said about Homburg-Harris in Calgary a couple of years back. I think generally speaking we all think its good now. Of course the colours are different. So as has been pointed out already, this may not be the final design.

welll..... anyone want to send them a fax showing your displeasure?

I kid. Here is hoping this design never sees the light of day. And here is hoping the "flip this lot" model is what they are going for, and we see a better owner/design in the end.

So they obviously haven't done a Phase II ESA yet. Presumably these guys would get one done before the big flip? Did Greyhound have one that they just weren't making available until after the sale?

I actually would love another gold tower but in the shade of the RBC building in Toronto as I love that building. However this looks like a cheap knock off of that one. It needs work, but there is potential in the tower portion, the base is hideous as far as I am concerned. Then the issue with the office on top and condo's on the bottom is stupid, but I am sure they will get straightened out. It will go through some changes and if it gets built it will hopefully look decent. I am thinking the EDC does to this thing what it did to Ironwood. Toss it, but these guys will fix it and we should get something decent. Lets all hope.

I'd like to see some better renderings, can't really make out what the 'gob' is up on the roof!

The shape of the tower is interesting, but I'm not sold on the gold glass.
Bigtime, can we borrow some of your nukes?

Icon's height looks sexy.

Icon 2's height will look even better.

It's refreshing to look up sometimes

Ah. That's kindof asshat-y. Stupid Greyhound. Maybe we could have gotten a real developer, otherwise.

Speaking of stupid Greyhound (and veering wildly offtopic) has anyone else noticed that Greyhound is using 103Ave as their personal staging area for their courier fleet? Every day there is a lineup of their trucks backed-up along the avenue which reduces traffic to one lane. If it wasn't so cold I'd take a picture.

The only issue I have with it - and it's a big one - is the damned URBIA ensign on top. That's gotta go.

How is this site even being considered for a single tower in the first place?

I see 2 residential buildings on common podium there...not a terrible terrible office tower.

I can barely read this thread, I hate this building so much.

Fuck you GMH, fuck you with vigour.

Sorry dude, this isnt self-esteem club. With this building, I'm pretty sure i have the right to mock anyone who likes it. It's that bad.
