Plough Lane – New Stadium – 9,215
AFC Wimbledon is a relatively modern team; founded in 2002 following the old Wimbledon FC relocating to Milton Keynes (a large town north-west of London) back in 2003 – it was and remains incredibly controversial. Fans of the old club banded together to create a club owned by fans, and the team has done particularly well – advancing through 9 tiers of the football pyramid – and currently play in League 1 (two divisions below the Premiership) in a very respectable two decades.
After many years of ground sharing and searching for a plot, the club finally found a site – 200 yards from the old Plough Lane stadium – and construction started in 2019 for a 9,215 capacity stadium. AFC Wimbledon played their first match at Plough Lane in November 2020. As of 2022, rugby league’s London Broncos play at the stadium as well. Should the club secure further promotion, the intention is to expand the stadium further bringing the capacity up to 20,000.

Brentford Community Stadium – New Stadium – 17,250
Brentford is a west London football club that was founded back in 1889. They currently play in the Premier League having securing promotion in the 2020-21 season.
Plans for a replacement for Griffin Park (Brentford’s home from 1904-2020) go back nearly two decades, but it wasn’t until 2012 when the club brought a triangular plot of land bordered by railways 800m to the east of Griffin Park. Construction commenced in 2017 with the first match played in September 2020. Capacity is 17,250, with scope to expand to 25,000. The ground is also home to rugby union side London Irish.
