Looks like 150 Laurier West will start by the end of this year:

Exciting. I'd ask why it's taking so long for city to approve but... not a shocker. City loves taking its sweet a** time to review/approve anything. Not like we're in a housing crisis or anything.

On another note I saw this building was having an open house event on Friday and Saturday. I wish I would've attended. Would have loved to see the finished in the common spaces some of the units (or views from the higher floors).

Did anybody attend?

I like this statement in the article:

“We have a site plan application for 150 Laurier and (are hoping) to start by the end of the year,” André Doudak, president and CEO of Jadco, told RENX. “We’re at centre ice. We’re at Laurier and Elgin and it’s going to be Ottawa’s No. 1 tower in my book.”

I find it very hard to believe that there is even a remote chance of them starting on the 150 Laurier W project by the end of the year. Would love to be wrong tho

I guess we need to update the thread title, as the building is indeed 28 stories tall.

Beautiful and sleek. Ottawa could use 10-20 more of these sprinkled around town (Market, CBD, Lebreton, Lansdowne, Westboro)

This wins on so many levels...but why, oh why, did they have to add a charcoal cinder block to the heritage building? Couldn't they have gone with a lighter more complimentary tone for the podium? It's an incredibly lazy and jarring part of an otherwise excellent looking design (by Ottawa standards).

Agreed. A lot of these purpose built rentals coming online. Guess we will see if we have a shortage of housing as I don't see how we absorb all these $2500 1 bedrooms for rent.
