Mill Island will join the rest of the city when it is finished, and, at the rate I'm moving, it shouldn't be long.

Meanwhile I'll just have to give you all huge renders, like this:

This is the northern end of the Lofts Quarter, which is slowly gentrifying thanks to public improvements like narrowed roadways and pedestrian enhancements. The buildings here are generally restored, though a few still await it. To the far right can be seen just a sliver of the South edge of downtown.

I don't know if this is entirely what you intended, but your city looks very European to me (not that I'd know, having never been to Europe). Either way, it's a very beautifully made 3D city. Well done!

No, I think it looks like either Seattle or Frankfurt. Europe is a very big place (even though it's the smallest continent) so you can't really say where it looks from.

This is nice, what kind of camera do you have if you don't mind me asking?

European was the intent with the Old City, as almost all of the textures in that quarter were taken from London and Paris.

The rest, though, is very North American, with a heavy Midwest 'rust belt' basis. I'd say a good 80% of all my textures come from Milwaukee, Chicago and St Louis. It'll look more like that when I get into the heavy industrial stuff.

For example, this is Washington Street in St Louis, the main axis of the Warehouse District there, which (In addition to Milwaukee's 3rd and 5th Wards) served as texture donors and inspirations for City City's Loft District.

Canon Powershot A40, but as of late I have a Canon G5, so all of my textures from Minneapolis (about 7, right now) are made from that camera.

St Louis' downtown is so prewar-gritty it's not even funny.

So I was adding Mill Island to the rest of the model piece by piece, and guess what? I MAXXED OUT MY COMPUTER. So no progress until I get a new one (maybe a month or two). But there is progress, and the city looks fucking awesome all together now.

^^^ I was going to say it looks like a beefier version of Milwaukee. Or maybe the lovechild of Milwaukee and St. Louis.

Then again, Milwaukee has a somewhat old-world, European feel to it...

I actually mistook that first photo for a picture of somewhere in the third ward in Milwaukee until I looked closer and saw the edges of the texture were rough and the sky looked fake.

I remember this city from my old lurking days.

It's looking awesome, can't wait to see the new updates, whenever the new computer enables you to.

And why have I not seen pictures of St.Louis like this before?! It looks so cool, the first image I get when I think of an American city. I demand satisfaction!

I guess I'll take this oppurtunity to finally update y'all on all the subtle nuances of the City City that has been completed for several months, before the addition of Mill Island...

A sunny and quiet morning South of the Old City.
