Why we can't have nice things

Full article, "Tears Over Spilled Beer"

Quote:
Angry crowds gathered around several downtown liquor stores, shouting profanities when they realized that the shops had been closed.

"It's disgusting. Otherwise you have to go to a bar and pay for an overpriced drink. You can't get a bottle of wine and go back to your place and watch the events," said White Rock's Tara Mahoney, 27, as she stood outside a liquor store.
Hmmm, so you're at a downtown liquor store to buy some wine and go back home to White Rock? Nice try. At 27 I'd hope this person has a little more common sense, and maybe they were going to see a friend downtown, however...

Not to mention that at 7pm, almost every event is over except the late night hockey game.

As for these idiots, yes. I'm in favor of big-brother type monitoring in busy downtown areas, so in fact we can see "the whole story" when somebody claims police brutality, etc. That is, they incite the police, then cry foul when they get what's coming to them.
I feel the same way about big-brother type monitoring. People complain about how it isn't right. Well if they didn't do something stupid they would have nothing to worry about. If I'm walking down a street and a camera catches me. I don't worry about the camera because I know I'm not doing anything wrong.

Of course it would also help stop the so called "Eye-Witness." Worst thing ever.

OK everyone, we got this far with the world admiring Vancouver's enthusiasm and excitement for the Games. Don't blow it by doing anything stupid tonight.

from an article posted in the outside views...

Quote:
When protesters yelled "Shame!" at one group, the fans responded by singing the Canadian national anthem.

It was something else to be down at Robson and Burrard (outside CTV) when we won! WOW!! No Riot, too much joy and disbelief in the crowd!

I was there too! I was wearing a flag, a vintage-style Canucks jersey and had this sign:

CANADA
TRIUMPHS in
VANCOUVER

Hilariously, a near-riot almost broke out between the 911 Truthers and some of the other revelers who, apparently fed up with them, tried to tear down and stomp on their signs. It was happening in the background as Bill Good and Pamela Martin were obliviously reporting.
