Don't think I've seen this rendering before, showing the building in context with the skyline. Quite possibly the best quality building going up in Vancouver atm:

Demolition to the ground level is pretty much complete, but I think they are taking a breather to feel out the market before moving onto the foundations.

I wonder how much actual excavation they'll need to do.

The new building will have 6 levels of parking, does anyone know how many are there now?

Most of the parkade entries are deleted for the old parkade but one mentioned 201 spots?

This morning.
The official start of excavation, I don't know how far down he's got to go but it's going to take him while with that machine

I was thinking the same thing when I first saw it, why is it so clean, clean in a way that they are going to use the same slab and parkade? Which I know is not the case.

Just noticed that the Sapphire condo next door now has architecturally-exposed concrete where a tacky grey tetris paint job used to be. It's wonderful, but how did they do this? Did they apply Kryton or other waterproofing from the inside? If it was always waterproof from the beginning, why paint it in the first place!?

Go into the alley in Google Maps and Aug 2018 they have a work platform setup to paint in that dark gray? I assume they just stripped it and it was just painted for cosmetic reasons.

Yeah, I thought Sapphire had the tetris pattern all up the elevator core too.

Going to be interesting to see if they keep the demo going, if they keep going down safe to say this thing is going on spec, which would be wild in this market.

A stage 1 building permit (excavation and shoring) was issued on May 13th, so I would take that as a sign they intend to keep moving forward.

However, Reliance's other office project at Seymour and Pender looks stalled, as they haven't even applied for a development permit.

As far as we know, are Westbank + Allied building 720 Beatty on spec too?

Heard from some colleagues on the commercial side of my biz that it's on hold and developer may be exploring other options for the site such as a hotel ( just murmurs in my company nothing official ).

Any updates on this project? Is it still on hold? I think it will be a nice addition (but modest) to the CBD when finished. As a hotel, it might be interesting to see how that would turn out. Sleek design, anyway.
