i don't know which mod keeps moving this thread to the completed projects sub-forum, but traditionally we don't move construction threads to the completed project sub-forum until the building achieves occupancy. so for now it should stay here.

Not only no occupancy yet. No opening of the RiverWalk yet.

There is another view worth photographing at night -- up Canal from around Taylor or Harrison. River Point has unexpected visibility from that angle, despite being sited entirely east of Canal, partially because it's rotated slightly off pure north-south and also possibly because of a jog in Canal.

Yes, Canal doesn't run quite north/south. It jogs west near Union Station and then again up by River Point to Kinzie. Really subtly out of line with the rest of the grid. But has the effect of pushing River Point into a view terminating position.
^ Having seen it again, I just wanted to reiterate it really looks pretty cool at night from Canal around Taylor or Polk, kind of a bonus view in an unexpected place. It stands out in a way that Hyatt Center never could. It's also partially due to the way the curving office lights recede into perspective.
After I took these shots, a security guard tried to tell men that the building didn't want people taking pictures from the plaza and i had to kindly inform him that $30,000,000 in TIF public monies went into the construction of the plaza, which was a public space and that the building didn't have the right to control a space that's essentially apart of the riverwalk. I feel like I should write a letter to the alderman.
Looks like this is getting a Gibson's....AT THE TOP!

Gibsons Restaurant Group has announced plans for a steakhouse inside the office tower with a top floor retractable roof, that is sure to make everyone's next list of the best places to dine outdoors next year. The restaurant is slated to open this fall, according to Eater, and is styled as a "modern steakhouse with authentic Italian influences," as a spokeswoman told Eater.
