Patriot's Square Park near the 0,0 point in Phoenix is a brick oven in the summer and an outdoor toilet for transients.
Its
futuristic design in the 1980's was cool for about 5 minutes. It is now
thankfully going to be leveled and incorporated into a 1 billion $, three-block development called
Cityscape, still as park space. It is a point of controversy locally, mostly between the architect who designed it and the rest of us who loathe it. It is surrounded by some beautiful historic buildings like the Luhrs Tower and old Phoenix City hall. These deserve something better, a park that hi-lites them instead of insults them.
