Very cool. Those 80-foot mud drawings will look so good in the natural light-infused lobby.

This is a rendering of the Veer East tower lobby. Two works will be commissioned (one for each tower) by Richard Long called Circle of Life and Earth.

MGM Mirage's CEO 'Playing Offense'

New interview with MGM CEO Jim Murren:

http://www.cnbc.com/id/32642315

He says CityCenter condo price adjustments will be available in Oct. along with financing options for buyers.

Interestingly enough he says MGM has sold more than 70 percent of condo product at CityCenter. That wouldn't be possible unless they took out Vdara's unsold inventory, which would mean they will likely absorb more than half of the units there.

Those units will probably be the inventory for when the hotel opens in Dec., since closings for Vdara were scheduled for Feb. - Mar. 2010.

I honestly believe that the eye of the hurricane has past. Sure the economy may take time to rebound in Vegas; however, I see stalled projects eventually being completed and new life as always emerging in this great city. Those new photos of Cosmo/City Center Progress are just unbelievable! In time both places will be packed!

Was in Vegas for a couple of nights last week. A few comments governing City Center:

1) It is truly an amazing project in terms of size and scope. Extremely tall, extremely dense, and very modern!

2) Poor Monte Carlo Hotel. Can't even see the damn thing anymore!

3) Construction, construction, construction! I stayed at Planet Hollywood, and I couldn't get to the parking garage without a half-hour of gridlock no matter which way I went! The Strip, Tropicana, Harmon, Koval, all a nightmare!

4) I wonder how many of the units are REALLY sold already, and I wonder how many more hotel rooms are REALLY needed... Will the project be half-empty or more for years to come?

it depends on which angle you're looking at it from. there is still a huge section where it is highly visible. i know because i was looking at it and thinking about it last time i went down there. yes, from the north you can't see it, but you can't see the luxor either.

After reading the 2-part series the LATimes had on Vegas, I really hope now more than ever that Echelon is completed...the demolition of Stardust should not have been in vain.
