Good day for PA transit! Both Philadelphia-Reading and Scranton-NYC Amtrak lines were accepted into the "Corridor Identification Program" which gives them money to continue developing a service plan. It's only $500k, which isn't much, but it's good to keep the momentum going on this.

Reading to Philadelphia train takes a major step forward as it gets federal funding for first time

Plan for Scranton-NYC railroad route that would run through Poconos takes step forward

Potential Locations for New Bus Station

So the current location stinks, where could the city build a replacement station?

Hopefully it's more than the 3 roundtrips they proposed which is a joke...and what happened to the Harrisburg-Reading-Allentown-NY corridor which Penndot had as a high priority a decade ago and deemed it easy to build.

Anyone been through 30th Street Station recently - have they kicked off the modernization construction project in earnest yet? Gilbane wraps are visible on the Market Street side but haven’t heard much about it yet.

The food court was closed off like a month ago and is actively being remodeled.

Awesome - thanks for update. Yeah they are dropping $550mm on the project - really looks fantastic. Can’t wait to actually be able to grab a beer again before a trip.

Autonomous vehicle shuttle debuting at Navy Yard

https://southphillyreview.com/2024/0...-at-navy-yard/

Quote:
The Navy Yard wants to help reduce the use of single-occupancy vehicles, lessen congestion and decrease carbon emissions on a campus home to 150 businesses and 15,000 employees. The AV shuttle will be incorporated into the Navy Yard’s existing shuttle service that connects visitors and employees to SEPTA’s NRG Station and Center City.
Good stop-gap but let's get that BSL extension in the works.

Nothing substantive, just an Inquirer opinion piece on the RBS from a month ago:
