Another expected delay. I was really looking forward to the Christmas period games. However if this means we will still get a full scheduled even with another month or two of 50% than I think it is worth it.

Big questions will be for the memorial cup where rumour has it 80% of the tickets are already sold. I've yet to get mine as I wanted to wait until the spring time to see how Covid was going to go.

The Titan have moved to Carleton-Sur-Mer for their training camp too.

I see that Mark Barberio (ex Wildcat, former NHLer) has been named to Canada's men's Olympic hockey team.

Good for him. He was a fun player to watch as a Wildcat. I hope he wins an Olympic medal (of any colour).

And my son just told me that Brandon Gormley is also on the roster! That's two contemporaneous ex Wildcat D-men on the Olympic team. That's fantastic!

I'll have to watch the games on TV now.........

Looks like the Q will be back in action with 50% capacity in New Brunswick starting this weekend. With Moncton and Saint John hosting Rimouski and Blainsville this weekend.

The new look Sea Dogs off to a flying start. Going 2-0. Posting their first shutout in 3 years. Outscoring the Armada and Oceanic by a combined 10-2.

Bathurst also slapped the Armada by a score of 5-2. Excited to see live games coming back. Here's hoping the 50% capacity limit is lifted soon.

FIX Auto CEO Steve Leal has put in a bid for the Acadie-Bathurst Titan of the QMJHL, and a relocation to somewhere in or around Montreal is a condition of that purchase. They would need to find a location to build a 3-4K capacity CHL arena, likely on the South Shore of Montreal, likely in one of the following communities: Boucherville, Chambly, Châteauguay, Longueuil, Saint-Constant, Saint-Hyacinthe, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and Sainte-Julie.

FIX Auto is based out of Blainville, where there is already a Q team.

The Titan originally played in Laval between 1971 and 1998 before relocating to Bathurst.
Local group has not yet approved purchase.

Make me wonder why he just does not buy the Armada? The lack of transparency on the future of the team will hurt the attendance.

One day Leal says they stay and behind everyones back he does this

Statement from the Mayor of Bathurst, Kim Chamberlain:

Quote:
Just like you, we are aware of the latest news report from the Quebec-based newspaper “Le Devoir” concerning the impending sale of majority shares of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan and revelations the new owner would be seeking to relocate the club to potential sites just south of Montreal.

Knowing that the Titan has a committed fan base, we, members of Council and the relevant Management team have invested substantial amounts of time, resources and money to ensure the team stay in Bathurst. It is evident those efforts were compromised.

To say the least, we are very disappointed at what we learned this morning. The lack of transparency demonstrated towards Titan fans from all over, as well as the City of Bathurst, is extremely frustrating.

We have done everything in our power to help the present ownership group, to try to ensure the team stays in Bathurst for years to come. As it stands, this decision now rests with the present ownership group. They OWN what is to happen in the short, medium and long term. I’m just so very disappointed at the lack of transparency and that a better solution was not found.

I strongly feel for the players and staff members of the team who are caught up in this extremely difficult situation. They are just as powerless as we are and deserve our respect and support.

I loved to yell “GO, TITAN, GO!”. Unfortunately, now, that seems to mean something else that I fear.
This sounds very serious............

And the ownership group stays silent. Its been rumours after rumours and hearing about things in the media. Thats what hurts the most is that nothing comes from the ownership group to set the record straight. One day Leal says the team is safe here, the other day, he is asking who would like to host a team. And all of that and he has not even been confirmed as a majority holder yet.

The Montreal area and suburbs have consistently shown that they can not support junior hockey.
This list is from Hockeydb, I added only the past teams from the Montreal metro area.
Boisbriand, PQ
Blainville-Armada [2011-2022]
Granby, PQ
Bisons [1981-1995]
Predateurs [1995-1997]
Laval, PQ
Saints [1969-1970]
National [1971-1979]
Voisins [1979-1985]
Titan [1985-1994]
Titan College Francais [1994-1998]
Longueuil, PQ
Chevaliers [1982-1987]
College-Francais [1988-1991]
Montreal, PQ
Red White and Blue [1972-1975]
Juniors [1975-1982]
Rocket [1999-2003]
Juniors [2008-2011]
Rosemont, PQ
National [1969-1971]
Saint-Jean-sur-Riche, PQ
St. Jean Castors [1982-1989]
St. Jean Lynx [1989-1995]
Sorel, PQ
Black Hawks [1969-1977]
Black Hawks [1979-1980]
Black Hawks [1980-1981]
St. Hyacinthe, PQ
Lasers [1989-1996]
St. Jerome, PQ
Alouettes [1969-1972]
Verdun, PQ
Maple Leafs [1969-1972]
Black Hawks [1977-1979]
Black Hawks [1979-1980]
Juniors [1982-1984]
Junior Canadiens [1984-1989]
College-Francais [1991-1994]

Most of these teams ended up relocating to other markets have have enjoyed stability since. They include Cape Breton, Charlottetown, Rouyn-Noranda, Rimouski, Victoriaville, and Bathurst. If there is a city that could use a team it’s Fredericton. Most of the other Quebec cities that might be able to host a team have a LNAH team in them.

Less than an year after accepting the head coaching job, and less than 2 months after accepting the GM role, the Titans announced that Jason Clarke has accepted an Assistant Coach position in the American Hockey League.

Maybe, but to his defence, it will be his first AHL job, so it would crazy for him to pass this opportunity.

Regardless of teams status in Bathurst, the team is safe, as was his position (I assume). The jump to the pros is a no-brainer.

Things are a bit more gloomy than the coach simply pouncing on an AHL opportunity. I guess we'll wait and see how things pan out.
