Noticing this elevation from the city of Hamilton on twitter is dated 2016! This has been in the works for a while it seems.

Yeah, it looks totally stunted next to the Lister Block without the cornice...

I wonder what materials are planned for the cladding? If the materials don't conform with the Lister Block then the whole building could look pretty goofy.

But LiUNA has done good work on the other projects in the area, they probably deserve some trust.

Great news, this block has really filled in over the last few years. Now that lot on the south side just needs to go

Yay!

The logical next step would be to buy the lot across the street. Plzzzzzzzzz!

Ah Innsertnamehere already pointed that out...

we probably can't put too much stock in that rendering. It makes the new corner building by Core Urban look like crap. You know you've got a bad rendering when..... lol

Yeah, fill in the final “missing tooth”. Hopefully LIUNA's project at Hughson will be a good start toward the rebuild of the lower jaw.

Yeah, considering that they were the ones who broke it.

glad they stated the final missing tooth on the NORTH side.. cuz you know.. there is still that giant glaring missing tooth on the SOUTH side right across from it..

I am still curious as to whether they will extend the hallways inside so you can access the annex from inside the lister block, or if it will purely be standalone..

I am wishing they would use the same materials as the lister though.. it's just such a majestic building..

lol our bitterness towards the lot across the street is palpable

I understand that private parking lots in a downtown area are a licence to print money, but, I don't understand how they haven't been offered enough money to just take it and run. If I was offered a couple million for the lot I would take it and invest elsewhere, or just relax, as many of these owners are likely older.

I couldn't stand by while my main source of income is "I bought a parking lot before people wanted land in the downtown". It's just so... uninspiring.

I think the main issue with this one is partly due to the fact that the side of the building that remains looks like it's a remnant of post ww2 german bombing.. like the side of the building is a MESS. It's got bits of the demolished building still clinging to it - it's got all these random jutouts and haphazard paint jobs going, it looks like the building was demolished yesterday and they just haven't gotten around to cleaning it up.

It is THE worst side of an exposed building in the city I could say, so bad that even taggers won't touch it. Ever notice that? A giant canvas and even they don't touch it. Might have something to do with it being a parking lot that probably has security cameras, but still..

and it's such a big space.. and it wasn't just one building that was demolished, but two..

personally I think either that side needs to be fixed up to look presentable, or some buildings need to be put back here. Preferably staggered like they originally were, decreasing in height so the lister block can still be enjoyed visual wise.

-----

also, that building beside the annex looks so TINY now haha..

Doesn't Molinaro or someone like that own that lot? It's been discussed here before, but I can never remember exactly who owns it.

I'd love to see floor plans for this - even just a general footprint, as I am curious as to whether it it simply going to go as far back as the other buildings on king william, or if it is going to take up the sitting area behind the lister block and connect to the hallways inside. which would make for a
