Any rumours about what might be going in to the retail/restaurant area on the ground floor of the Wellington? Wouldn’t that be a great spot for Rogue Coffee 2.0?

It was previously reported that a local restauranteur was looking to open a diner or diner-style place there, but I haven’t heard anything beyond that.

I know that some local restaurant owners reviewed the site last week to formalize proposals.

Work seems to have begun on the new Popeyes Chicken on Golden Grove Road. Someone has mentioned there’s now some movement around the property.

I drove by a few mins ago and seen a couple vehicles and a few people with work gear checking out the site. Hopefully work is commencing.

Giant Tiger is confirmed to be opening a store on the east side at SmartCentres. It will be next to Winners. They’ve confirmed it on the new store openings page on their website. Opening is scheduled for November 4th.

A source has mentioned they’ve received an email that JYSK is planning to open a store in 2024. They are currently working out the details with the city.

This was rumoured last year and I'm glad to see that it appears to be moving ahead.

As others have pointed out, that should bode well for the BB&B locations that are about to be emptied out to be filled quick in Moncton and Freddy.

Taco Bell is rumored for the former Starbucks location at 944 Fairville Boulevard on the west side.
Apparently some staff members of the Mary Browns Chicken next door have mentioned this.

Could we have the answer of who won the bidding rights for the now-former H&M store in McAllister Place, in the form of Old Navy?

Vintage Pursuit, (a collectibles/hobby shop that was located at 35 Duke Street Uptown), is opening a new location inside McAllister Place. (The former Frolic Confectionery location). Opening is on June 1st.

It appears that Spirit Halloween is opening soon in both Saint John and Fredericton. Jobs listings are now online on their official website. Similar listings are also now online for Halifax, Nova Scotia and St.John's, Newfoundland. https://www.spencersandspiritjobs.co...jF4_QDRIP-4Hik

Looks like they've chosen SJ this year over Moncton, probably due to limited/no spaces available there.

The Popeyes on the east side has started to put the initial framing up now that the foundation has been poured.

It appears construction has begun for Giant Tiger coming soon to SmartCentres, (across the street from McAllister Place). Construction crew were spotted today working on the interior of the vacant space right next to Winners. Opening is scheduled for November 4th 2023.

CDH, (Central Discount House), is opening their first Atlantic Canada location at 56 King Street uptown. They are an off-price retailer like Winners and Marshalls, (but without the furniture). This company currently only has locations in Alberta and Ontario. Opening is scheduled for the 3rd week of July.

Sorry to see when I was in the market today that Slocum and Ferris is closed. Sad to see another long-term business gone so soon after Sisters but it was never really the same after Dave Forrestal sold it.
