Thanks. This one has been eluding me as to the location. Had to dig up the lots on the assessor's map. Will you include the address for those who view the post later? 821 N 6TH ST PHOENIX 85004 is the corner lot and accurate enough, I think.

From the renderings I've seen, it looks like the old houses will stay and not get demo'd. (Crested mentioned from the work on site it looked like the old house(s) was being prepped for demo.)

Gonna be nice with some of these towers popping up in areas that didn't previously have any (ASU dorms, Aspire, Blue, Skye and Derby. Will expand the skyline north, south, east and west.

The closest one is definitely getting demolished. It was issued a 30-day demo notice not long ago and the inside was pretty much destroyed when I was looking through the fence (not sure if from demolition or vandalism or both). I don't think that house could be salvaged as it was in pretty bad shape. The other house on the end of the block looks like it will stay up and someone appears to be living in it. But I'm not sure what they have planned for the house/lot adjacent to the Skye development.

Nice filler, but wow... C- on the design.

It pains me to say this, but in 5-7 years the downtown skyline will be much more filled in, but look about as exciting as Edmonton in the 1990s.

The Valley is full of wonderful architects, it would be lovely to see some actual architecture on the skyline. Link was a decent start. Too bad so many others are so dismal.

I just noticed the close house in multiple renderings. You can see the diamond/X shaped porch railing.

I saw some renders that showed at least one house getting moved to the corner. I don't remember there being more than one house however.

OK, I have to bite with the obscure reference...

Edmonton? Why there?

Have you seen a picture of Edmonton in the 90s? Tabletop blah stubby skyline filled with blah stubby architecture. Not a distinctive building in the lot, just a bunch of them.

I’m not saying that every building needs to be distinctive, just that I wish at least one of them was memorable.

It does have a pretty boring look to it but I will hold my judgement until I see how it looks. That brown facade might just work but I need to see first.

Yea i agree. It looks like almost a wood type of finish. That would be pretty coo, IMHO.

It's a big box that people pay money to live in. If it works it works, I don't really expect cutting edge design for a market rate apartment building, do you guys?

It looks like it could be corten steel on that lower façade which would be pretty cool. There are a handful of buildings around downtown now that use weathered steel or copper. It's a nice look, I hope we see it more. I think the gray accent colors will look nice too. It'll be fine for what it is, I do wish it had a more interesting roofline though.

Technically, they're starting on Monday, but what's another weekend, right? Glad to see that we are getting a ground breaking!
