I love it!

The second best cities in America are tied, IMO, between SF, Boston, DC, and Chicago. However, Miami is my personal second favorite.

the shortening has begun. The original article saying " Waldorf building got a hair cut" has been removed.

The original article claimed the height had been reduced to 1,036

I'm pretty sure this is still 1049 ft above the sea level. 1040 above ground.

The UDRB filing indicates the structure itself is approximately 1,036ft and 1,047.5ft above sea level.

Developer Applies For Construction Permit To Build Miami’s First-Ever Supertall
https://www.thenextmiami.com/history...r-a-supertall/

Quote:
Developer PMG has just applied for a construction permit to begin work at the 100-story Waldorf Astoria supertall tower.
It is the first time in Miami’s history that a developer has applied for a construction permit to build a supertall.

City records show that the construction permit application was filed on October 27, earlier this morning. It is not yet in review.
The permit is for foundation work only. A permit for vertical construction does not yet appear to be pending.

could it finally maybe actually happen!?!?!

i mean, the law of averages says that at least one of miami's dozen+ supertall proposals over the past decade or so would come to fruition.

here's to hoping

MIAMI - Waldorf Astoria Hotel & Residences - 1,049 FT | 100 FLOORS

Miami's first supertall! Developer PMG has just applied for a construction permit to begin work at the 100-story Waldorf Astoria supertall tower.

It is the first time in Miami’s history that a developer has applied for a construction permit to build a supertall.

At 1,049 feet, the Waldorf Astoria will be nearly 200 feet taller than the current tallest building in Miami. Miami’s Urban Development Review Board voted last week to recommend approval of the tower’s design.

PMG said this month that condo sales are strong, and that sitework would begin in the fourth quarter of 2021.

The tower was designed by Uruguayan architect Carlos Ott.

Cool design. Pleasantly surprised by the lack of balconies.

I wonder when that Holiday Inn next door is gonna go…

Steely waiting for a Miami "Supertall" to me is about as exasperating as a Chicago Cubs fan probably was waiting for their 108 year old drought to end by winning the World Series in 2016!

At this point I'm like "will it ever happen"?

When will the stacked boxes fad be over? It looks like a Lego robot with bad posture.

I agree. This one has no symmetry and does not look good in Miami's skyline. Moscow's was probably the best iteration: https://skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?buildingID=24262

Work set for 93-story Waldorf Astoria glass box downtown

The developer poised to redefine Miami’s skyline with an impressive tower of glass boxes rising 93 stories on Biscayne Boulevard is citing progress on the ambitious mixed-use project.
The development, called 300 Biscayne, is to bring not only multi-family residential units and commercial-retail uses to downtown, but also a new Waldorf Astoria hotel.
PMG Downtown Developers LP is in charge of the high-profile property near the waterfront.
In an email response to Miami Today on Tuesday, a company spokesperson said full construction is expected to begin in 2022’s first quarter.

The tower is slated for completion in 2025.

The spokesperson also confirmed the City of Miami had recently issued a demolition permit for the property, allowing preliminary site work to commence on Phase II.
