I personally prefer murals as it shows more character and personality for a city. I.E the example Mopacs showed for New Orleans

If it's just ads then let them be on billboards

Absolutely! But I'm asking why we don't have larger ads on buildings....like is it a regulated thing with Austin?

Yeah, luckily that's dying off ...some.

I do like the detailed NOLA mural. Something like that would be cool on this. I just aim to have every blank wall branded with Atari in the vein of Blade Runner.

Perhaps one day a photorealistic guitar or a 30 story Stevie Ray Vaughan looking over us, or both.

Not trying to be a guastafeste, but the Alexan is residential, not a hotel. Spiffing up a blank wall on a hotel to make it more attractive makes more sense than painting a giant claronet on an apartment building, not that we are getting it done on either here in A- town. And while I like the guitar suggestion, that sliver of vertical blankness would not offer anything close to an accurate depiction of one.

Nice. It's making an impact on the NE corner of downtown.

I am LOVING the height this is adding for this area. It's very prominent from the east side and going north/south on 35.

This will look nice compared to the rest of Ugly Row. The stretch of buildings directly on I-35's Southbound frontage road has got to be the worst in the city (except for the Camden, which at least looks decent.)

Approved site plans and building permits don't specify whether or not a project has affordable units on site. The best way to find that info as far as I can tell is to reference the Design Commission back up files. I did that for this project, and page four of the file for this project does say they will have onsite affordable housing. So this project can continue.
