I have a hard time believing that to be the case as well, the first several floors take a long time to go up. But as always I am more then happy to be proven wrong.

SSP needs to buy a bunch of orange vests... Award one to what the community feels is the most informed poster of the year.

Subsequently, award a hard-hat to the dumbest long-time poster.

Er, yes ....
Moving right along, when the four SOLO towers are finished (at over 40 floors each thereabouts it seems) plus the new Brentwood Town Centre-to be with its towers,
as well as the Kensington (?) project , this area, though smaller than Metrotown, will be denser, and possibly more dramatic-looking.
Great things ahead in the years to come.

You would be surprised by the information you can gather by simply asking, even lowly orange vests.
Anyway, Solo District, Brentwood Mall , Condcord at Dragonwood. That will be a lot of growth and change in the area. it will be interesting to see how Dawson developes from Gilmour to Beta.

It's an old joke about some misinformation fed on this fourm by an onsite contractor (wearing an orange vest of course), not a slight towards blue collar workers.

That said yes you can get a lot of info, but one has to be very careful with those sources. Misinformation is rife and often contractors are told only their portion of the info and may be misinformed on the whole picture.

Concrete pour for Altus' foundation is starting

from a marketing e-mail:

The biggest concrete pour in Burnaby's history will be happening this weekend to create Altus' foundation!

A few fun facts:

Over 4500 cubic metres of concrete
Almost 450 concrete trucks
Concrete will be poured at a rate of 100 cubic metres per hour
5 concrete pumps operating simultaneously will take almost 12 hours to complete
Due to the concrete pour, the SOLO District Presentation Centre will be closed this Sunday, December 8, 2013

And now forming up the fourth floor of Stratus. I believe the standard floors start on the 5th or 6th floor.
Altus first pour done and excavation coming to an end.

Isn't the pricing for the units too high? I bet the Altus is not selling very well..

Looks like Stratus is starting on the regular floor plates, the forming is being stripped of what looks like a huge transfer slab.

Should begin to go up much faster now.

Ignoring that the entire local market is ridiculously overpriced, SoLo doesn't appear to be any worse than the rest.

In fact I would say it probably offers a better value than most developments.

Update.

Pictures I took on Monday, 2014-01-20

They are on the 4th floor as of Monday.

Looks like they wont meet that 8th floor January time frame mentioned earlier by jb1969.

Nothing super interesting happening at Altus, still well below grade.

You can see floor 2 and 3. Apparently there is only one unit on these floors

Different angles

Can hardly wait to see these towers go up. Seeing Soverign and Metroplace at metro town has me excited to see 40+ floor towers in Brentwood.

I drove by the site around 9pm to take a look at the progress.

Is it normal for panhandlers to be stationed on all 4 medians of Lougheed and Willingdon? It caught me off guard..

There are more and more panhandlers everywhere. If drivers keep giving them $, they will keep appearing.
