There have been rumblings of this application for months, with several articles posted in the Spec about it. All the businesses here were evicted over the summer.

Notably, this site apparently includes one of the oldest structures in the province, dating from the 18th century. Not much of a looker though:

That lot which contains 3 or 4 businesses was for sale for a couple years. I suspected it was going to be sold for a condo/apartment development. It's a good location.

Close by, R L Hyslop school has been closed for over a year. It's nestled right against a hill that has stairs right next to it. This would be a great spot for a smaller 6-8 story condo.

This area of Stoney Creek is great. It gives you a small-town feel, while being only 5 minutes away from the amenities of a larger city.

The planned redevelopment of the Site, for which conditional Site Plan approval has
been granted, consists of a nine storey, mixed use building containing 155
condominium dwelling units and over 600 square meters of at-grade commercial space.
Construction costs are estimated at approximately $60,000,000.

Whoa... not sure about the look of it from an early render, it could be hit or miss... but it's good to see there's some movement on this. Excellent location.

But Goomber said it will likely be about two years before KSE can break ground on the condo building because it must first spend an estimated $3.9 million to remove more than 18,000 tonnes of contaminated soil.
