The last few minutes are about Kensington. Height appears to stay at 449” ish. No real surprises there. Best takeaway was the change in materials on the west side to concrete block in anticipation of the Regent. It also sounds like that will happen relatively soon based on a comment from one the Kensington reps. Nice info there.

That's the most loaded planning agenda I can remember, I love it!

Don't have time to watch it and they haven't posted the decisions yet, but hopefully everything was approved except that stupid parking structure (but I'm going to assume that was approved too).

The Kensington guy stated some changes requested were due to the regent hotel happening sooner than later, so that's cool

If the Kensington tower, Regent, and Main Street tower all move ahead the center of the skyline will be pretty dense/ with relatively tall and narrow high rises when viewed from the east or west. Also that will be upwards of 800-1000 residential units within a block of each other in the heart of downtown. Did they update the the Regents use? Will it be a mix of hotel and condos?

I don't think there's any public information yet, except that we now know that "it's coming sooner than later" and that HKS is the architect (confirmed in the PC meeting).

Approved 6-1. Here's a new BSL article on it. Everything else was approved too.

They also stated the Kensington will lose it's pool canopy, I thought that was one of the more interesting design elements.

Disappointing. This city really lacks vision.

Yep. There was a Fox 13 article written about the struggles the developer was having in getting the demo permits approved for the site. That article included renderings of the project.

There is also a commercial building permit that was filed confirming the description of the project:
Project Description:
Quote:
Washington Street Apartments
Four-story Apartment Building with 200 Micro Units (Type A & Type B Dwelling Units). Main Level includes a Laundry Room, Bike Storage, Living Room, Fully Accessible Kitchen and Unisex Restroom, and an enclosed, secure Interior Courtyard for tenant use. The proposed building will have Elevator access and will be Fully Fire Sprinklered. Project includes a Lot Consolidation for three lots.

There has been work going on in the median of 200 South on the east side of State St for about a week. Does this have anything to do with the Astra tower?

Taken Tuesday night:

Astra Trees

Sidewalk trees are coming down at the Astra site. Activity seems to be picking up on the site.

It'd be cool if the Gallivan Center were fully surrounded by towers.

So much potential at the Gallivan

Thanks Orlando. The imagebb links seem to be working for me now. Not sure what was happening there.

That image has be thinking that perhaps an underrated aspect of Astra, the Regent Street tower, and 255 S. State is how much they will collectively enhance the Gallivan Center as an urban plaza, both in terms of the quality of the space and pedestrian connectivity.
