I thought the Lyme proposal was cancelled a while back. I know there was a residential project proposed around there that went nowhere.

It's being built at Westheimer and Kirby, right across from 2727 Kirby.

That fountain in the rendering is being added, now that the scultpure has been moved to Disco Green. I'm sure the waters will dance.

Office Tower Planned on Houston Galleria Parcel
Jan 4, 2008
By: Tonie Auer, Southwest Correspondent

Houston-based developer Lasco Ventures L.L.C. has purchased 9.4 acres of undeveloped property with plans for an office tower in the Galleria area of Houston.

Financials of the transaction were not disclosed. The property was sold by Rich Oak Properties L.L.C. of New York. Located at the northwest corner of Richmond Avenue and Post Oak Boulevard in Houston’s Galleria area, the site is currently a vacant parking lot, CB Richard Ellis Inc. first vice president Simmi Jaggi, who represented the seller, told CPN today.

“It is an undeveloped tract that has been sitting there,” she said. “The whole south side of Post Oak and the Galleria has gone through a lot of transition in the last few years. The Galleria added Nordstrom’s and that pushed activity south, making this tract appealing.”

Lasco plans to break ground this year on the first phase of the project, a high rise office tower. The second phase may include a possible residential tower, Jaggi said.

“The site is located adjacent to the Williams Tower, the tallest office tower in Houston, which is connected to the Galleria via a tunnel and located near the Cosmopolitan high-rise condo tower,” Jaggi said. Additionally, 34-story condo tower Turnberry Tower is also going up just south of the Galleria Mall. That tower is expected to be finished in December 2009.

In addition to Jaggi, CBRE's Elizabeth Clampitt also worked on behalf or the seller of the land parcel.

Other than the misstatement on the "tallest office tower in Houston"... good news all around.

Awesome news. Wondering how tall this office building is going to be. Hopefully it will give the Williams Tower a run for its money, but thats probably wishful thinking.

Absoloutely. I mean, I know it would've been nice if the renovation plans had gone through for the West Building, but MainPlace is sure to be far more of a catalyst for cleaning up that part of downtown and bringing an eye to that portion of the skyline from new directions.

There are about 4 or 5 backhoes on the Legacy at Memorial (Studewood near Washington Ave.) so I assume something is going to be happening there soon. It's the first time the gates to the property have been closed as well in quite a while.

The summary page now shows 15 Houston projects under construction. That's up from 12 (and 9 in the summer). Things sound like they're heating up.
