At least a high-rise may block this view sometime in the future.
For a city synonymous with mullets you'd think there would be a little more party in the back...

I feel strongly that I need to post the photos of this building addition here. What's your take, Canada?

Awkward AF. In cases like that just demolish the original and building something new.

The original building was probably far nicer. It would look less terrible if they chose a contrasting colour (slate metal or something). Instead they have cherry coloured wood (?) that doesn't match and doesn't contrast and looks awful.

I’ve read dozens of thousands of real estate listings for work and pleasure, and this is now hands down, the worst dollar value use of money I’ve seen in a single-family residential construction in Canada in many years:

Colossal money waste-wise, surely nothing in Canada will ever top the Lake Temiskaming shitshow, though:

That Sudbury one is not even the worst house on that street (technically)! On the corner of South Bay and Keast:

I biked by both a couple of months ago. They're even worse in person.

If you're building a house like that in Sudbury, you can't be thinking too much about resale prospects. I would be curious to know who would spend $8 million, on a house designed and built to someone else's tastes (that kind of money could get you an impressive house built to your specs just about anywhere), and located in Sudbury.

If you can afford $8million on a house, you can afford to spend whatever to remake it to your taste.

If I can afford that, then I'm just building my own damn house from scratch however I like.

I actually kind of like it... it looks a bit like a bank, but that is far from the worst thing you could say about a house

The biggest issue IMO is lack of a setback. Even an extra 25 feet in front of the house would make a big difference.
