No, probably just SilverCity Hamilton not SilverCity Centre Mall. SilverCity Ancaster would have been SilverCity Meadowlands.

I'm guessing that's at Queen and King, next to the Mount St. Joseph building. The property is already zoned for a high rise. Believe Darko owns the land.

I dunno for sure if Darko owns the land. Options for Homes Hamilton is run by Carl Turkstra and Mark Chamberlain. Orginally they wanted to redevelop the Tweedsmuir School but instead the city will turn the land into a park.

Vranich is in on a not-for-profit condominium project?

Does this mean they are tearing down that church to build this? Don't we have about fifty brown brick slabs like this already? It's right on King Street and half the lot is a carport of some kind. If the building were cut in half and stacked one on top of each other at least it would be as tall as the other buildings within a three block radius. It's right beside Hess Village, why not build something distinctive, even it it's not-for-profit.

I interpret it as being built on the site of that old church across from the Scottish Rite.

If it weren't for the CG shading, I'd say that rendering came straight out of a 1972 apartment building planner guidebook. Barf.

I think it's at the vacant site on Queen St, the land is zoned for a high rise. There has been rumbling about a high rise in the works so this must be it.

The Mount St. Joseph building, which Darko owns, is suppose to be a hotel.

I know it's not-for-profit, BUT they could make a lot more money if they subdivided the lot and sold off those lots, and built a taller building on a smaller footprint.

Hopefully it is, rather than a new one. That wouldn't be so bad, ok it's still ugly, because old highrises are. But reclad highrises tend to look better than the bare darkened concrete original exteriors.

Wait a little while for the commercial real estate market to crash. These giant stores with huge parking lots are going to be deserts with no tenants and no customers!! I wonder if we'll have Lloyd Ferguson as the "lone driver" making sure there are no bumps in the pavement along these desolations HAHA

It appears the City is making progress on the CN land. With the 2009 Municipal Budget Council will create an Intergovernmental office to deal with Queen's Park and Parliament. With the creation council wants to discuss with Queen's Park regarding the CN land.

To me that's a hint the City wants brownfield funding for the CN land. But obviously you can't do brownfield cleanup unless the tenant, CN, relocates.
