June 17 by Fosk, www.skyscrapercity.com - three new supertalls coming up as the grand axis takes form. Surely this is the worlds biggest construction zone right now?

I really like this Tower, especially because it has a simple yet amazing
architecture, and the architecture of the low-rise it's just futuristic
and the mixture of Glass & Concrete was unique.

there is nothing amazing about the architecture of the building... whatsoever. It is an oval the size of the sears tower with a pattern on it to keep you occupied from how dull it is, as is commonplace in postmodern architecture these days.

hate to be prejudice, but I have not seen one aesthetically pleasing super tall under construction outside the US in the last few years (especially dubai), possibly besides burj khalifa, which then again is just a needle that ruins the skyline...

^You're obviously not looking hard enough. The tower isn't oval and the 'pattern' isn't some random architect's whim. But you see what you see.

i'm just trying to state the facts. give me one semi good looking skyscraper (good looking, not that "architecturally interesting" bull shit people say to pass them on) under construction in the eastern hemisphere. Guaranteed its just popular because of height, not how it looks.

if you look at this tower from the top, its an oval. my description may have been harsh, but its not the point. My point is that there is rarely any originality in these skyscrapers u/c today or even proposed.

You're not stating any facts. . . you're stating your OPINION. . . which you are certainly entitled to. . . but if you can't post in a civilized manner then this might not be the place for your opinions. . .

Except that it's not an oval, but again, you see what you see.

So those same international firms have great buildings in the US, but don't have one 'semi-good looking' one when they build outside.

Yep, smacks of prejudice alright.

Out of interest Brian, what do you see as being this great US benchmark?

And btw, the tower has a triangular footprint, with the corners rounded off.

While I disagreed with Mr. Odonnell anyway, I must say Muppet, your summary of projects really reminded me just how many impressive buildings are going up in China and elsewhere in Asia at this very moment. One of the things that excites me is the fact that all these cities that are rather faceless right now are gradually developing their own images. It's thrilling to know that one day, "Nanjing", "Tianjin" and "Shenzhen" might be as commonplace in conversation in the western world as "Paris", "London" and "Tokyo" are now.

Also, call me stupid but I didn't even realize the tower glass had a covering on it. It looks so much more impressive now!
