I'm glad he was our coach. Started his career with the Jets (1.0), ended his career with the Jets (2.0).
Just worried now we settled for Arneil and it will be Lowry 2.0

With the solid 'look in the mirror' face slap the season ticket issue has given the Jets. I hope they realize going with the boring, historical connections wont cut it. Arniel, seriously?

As the other poster said, clear house with the coaching staff and start fresh. Keep Hellebuycks goalie coach. The rest, gone.

They have a decent shot here at a refresh with the team. If they could sign Monahan, I'd probably be interested. I'm not sure about Toffolli, he'll likey be gone. Clear out the defence. Have yourself a new look team.

I don't follow the AHL to closely but looking at the coach of the year candidates I wonder of Mitch Love or Todd Nelson get a look. I like Nelson of the two seeing as he has been head coach of 4 championship teams at different levels. Tons of playoff experience as both a player and a coach. Only 54 years old.

Also was assistant under Bowness in Dallas...which is interesting at least.

Some interesting names on that list as you go through it.

If it's Arniel, I'm okay with that, as long as we fire Lauer, the special teams coach, since our powerplay and penalty kills have been weaksauce at best.

Although I know there are more experienced coaches out there. Berube comes to mind since he won the cup with St. Louis in 2019.

Again, just need to fire Lauer for the incompetence of special teams and we are set.

They were the best defence in the league through the regular season, I wouldn't clear them out just because they got coached into oblivion during the playoffs.

I think the team defense thing was the reason for the stellar run of defensive play. Our defense though, needs a re-boot. Keep Morrissey, Dillon. The rest can be replaced. Give Heinola a shot.

Heinola is never going to make a difference IMHO. He was drafted 5 years ago, and can't make the roster FT
However that Swedish guy we drafted in the 2nd round in 2022 looks very promising.

Funny game hockey is. I really thought the Jets were poised to be great this post season. Hot, playing the right way going into the playoffs.

A bit of a retool on the back end wouldn't hurt. Maybe move on from a couple of the forward corps and see if updating personel does it?
They had slumps this regular season that made me question them. The team just didn’t feel as great as the one we had in 17-18 when we made the conference finals.

Demelo can be replaced?

The big problem for the jets is that even though the cap is going up about $4 million, so are Sheif and Helle's new contracts. We can at best sign some of the existing players.

What really sucks is that they may be considering trading Ehlers to free up space when Schmidt and Pionk are costing nearly $12 mil to either sit on the bench or under perform. Maybe Utah will take them for future considerations.

Ehlers is excellent trade bait. I love him, but is ineffective..

Not sure how to deal with Schmidt and Pionk. Try and trade them. I doubt Chevy would buy them both out. MAYBE one of them since Wheeler is still on the books for one more year. But Chevy doesn't really do buy outs.

Also will need to find a serviceable back-up goalie for next season.

Noise is Jets are trying to make a splash at/before the draft. Will see what Chevy can work up.

Jets have 16.1 million in space to the new cap of $87.7 million. They don't really need to do anything on forward, as they have a roster of players already. But if they want to improve, do something. Back end they need to do something for sure.

That $16 mil gets eaten up pretty quickly.

$2.5 - Perfetti
$1.25 - Gus
$4.25 - Dillon
$4.5 - Demelo
$1.5 - Back up goalie
$14 Million

$2 million doesn't buy you much.

IMHO, Ehlers needs to go. If only because we can get such a big return for him. I personally love watching Ehlers play, and he is fast, and can be a great play-maker. However, he never comes through in the playoffs, or big games. I know the analytics guys love him, but we need to have players who can come through when it counts. Byfuglien and Wheeler were both guys who came through for the team.

I am pretty sure the three-year entry level contract with Thomas Millic could be for that purpose. It isn't a two-way deal so it seems the intent is he will be with the Jets.

All entry level contracts are two-way. He'll be with the Moose. At least we have some prospect depth at goal, between Milic and DeVincentis.
