BC got a 30 second shout out in 2012, but that was it.
For example, the new final destination 5, would it really hurt them to simply have it take place in Vancouver and call it "The Lions Gate Bridge"?????? Especially after seeing in the trailer they have made no attempt at all to cover up the background.
Would having it take place in Vancouver really disenfranchise that many potential American customers????

I'll give you the Bruce Willis movie, something original, but for Cool Runnings Calgary has to be Calgary because the original story was on the olympics that happened there.
Scott Pilgrim movie was based on the comics which was based in Toronto.
There are a few movies that are set in Vancouver and filmed here, but we seem to attract more movies that largely follows stories done outside movies.
Like all those comic book movies, Xmen Fantastic Four, ect. are set on stories already written, and based in different places in the world.
As for Final Destination I know some governments don't like actual landmarks being destroyed and mentioned directly by name, so movie producers just simply expect the viewer to recognize the landmark.
Also Vancouver tends to be a substitute location because the movie is mostly filmed in a studio/stage lot based in Vancouver, when they move outside is when they have to substitute vancouver as another series.

Just look at all the movies filmed here and what it is, either based on an existing series or too original not to care about setting.

I don't get what's the big fuss of Vancouver not being Vancouver.
