yes a hybrid would look nice.
If Dac textured and detailed only his best or fav buildings, or projects, then it would look very nice.

Spèaking of that, I've just began a city that mixes an existing one with a fantasy one: "Buenos Aires Riverfront".
Actually the competition complex is gonna be the first building

-Alek-Well I am considering tranfering this file onto my home computer where there I would be able to use textures. But that wouldn't be for a while.
-Mo-Thanks
-Vertical, I'm glad my city inspired you. Thank you. And I'm looking foward to your new one.

I plan on changing the name of this thread to the "The Hutchinson Metro Area" as oppose to "Chamberlin, New Jersey."

What a rip off. Sketch-up 6 moves insanely slow. I am so pissed off. It takes like 20 seconds just to draw 1 line.

Is there anyway I could get the older version back?

I just cannot believe how slow SU6 is. I thought it was going to be an improvemnt, but SU5 was 1,000,000 faster.

Does anyone know how I can make it run faster? I first though the size of the file was the culprit, but then I figured, if that is the case, then it would be equally as slow on SU5 (which it wasn't).

If I can't get it to run faster, then I have to sadly start over. I just can't work like this.

Seriosly, use diff. files.By far the best way to work. And keep how much stuff is in the viewfinder to a minimum.

It runs slower? Really? On my computer it runs way faster than SU 5. I was surprised how fast it moved actually when I got it. But if you wanna open SU 5 just click on Star, then click on Search, click on All Files and Folders, type in Sketchu 5.

Then a whole bunch will come up but click on the one that says version5.whatever.

If I think my file is slow, then I cannot imagine how slow Staunton must be, what with all the textures. It must take you a day to finish one building.

Wait, why does it run slow on your computers? I have S.U. 6.0.151 and it runs smoothly. What windows do you use Dac, Patrick, Vertical, and Austin?

I believe Patrick makes them in seperate files then adds them in the Staunton file later. That way he doesn't deal with the slowness always, just while he's adding that model.

SU 6 is much faster for me than 5. I am sure 6 being slower or faster for others has something to do with video cards. maybe?

I found the problem: My buildings are actually 11188' high. So the file is HUGE!

I am going to start over and make everything in proportion. I am going to start on Hutchinson, then Chamberlin, and then the boroughs. I should be were I was with Hutch by Friday, so i'll update then. It should be much better this time (especially with the 3-D lettering).

Exclamation

This only too me a little over an hour, so like I said before, expect Hutchinson to be back where it was by Friday.

-Today I just started making the grid for the city, and built 2 Hutchinson Square.
-I also put together a map to show the new layout. Not much change, except for size, and few other minor things.

2 Hutchinson Square: (All the billboards were made by me, no photoshop)

The Media Wall:

Here is a map of the new Hutchinson Metro Area:

More to come soon.

WOW! Why were your buildings that big?!!?!?!? Did you have it set to meters? Maybe it comes in what most of the world uses: meters. Anyways, yeah, the billboards are nice, too much like N.Y. but still nice and now that you have 3D letters you can make better looking signs.

-I didn't size the buildings up, just went ahead and started building. Not mkaing that mistake again.
-Glad you like the signs, they took me a while, but I had fun with them. I am going to start in Hutchinson Square and work my way out. The building's will be as detaileds as I can make them, so you'll probably only see a few a day.
-Yeah, they do resemble NYC, but its Times Square themed. Not really any other way around it. 3-D lettering makes it much more fun.
