Couldn't do a dummy booking on AC for CCC but it appears, based on the RoutesOnline article, that it would be on a mainline 320?

Correct. There isn't a lot of Rouge left to go around. I wonder if we'll have any Florida flying this winter? Maybe on weekends?

Was really hoping this crisis might finally get Rouge dumped.

Yes, let's all hope that cheaper flights get dumped.

Not surprised that you don't get how economics works. Competition makes flights cheaper. Not branding.

Yep, sun vacations with AC definitely dropped in price when they switched from mainline to Rouge in Fall 2019. /s

Shutting down Rouge doesn't make for more competition. Take Canada Back!

Keeping Rouge doesn't make for more competition either. You get that Rouge is part of Air Canada right?

That is EXACTLY it! You sense I believe what others do - we have alt-right trolls who for whatever reason only want WestJet in the airline business and view anything connected to Air Canada as bad. This forum needs to do a better job at clamping down on the dog whistles

The only trolls here are you guys. Who seem to think that anybody with a different opinion is an "alt-right" troll.

Not liking Rouge doesn't mean somebody "only want WestJet in the airline business". What kind of twisted logic leads to that conclusion?

To be clear, I consider Rouge and Swoop no different than other flanker brands in Canada like Fido and Koodo. This kind of crap only happens in markets which lack competition. Companies that offer the illusion of competition. Rouge and Swoop are excuses to give you a shittier product for a marginal discount. Calling it out shouldn't be controversial.

This forum needs to do a better job at policing the trolls who have taken over in the last two weeks.

The trolls who aren't active for years and then show up with multiple accounts boosting each other and attacking regulars. There were no conspiracy theories about alt right trolls in a thread about an airport a month ago.

To be fair, flanker brands exist in many segments of the economy, whether there is competition or not. Sobeys-Farmboy-Freshco, Gap-Old Navy-Banana Republic, VW-Audi-Skoda-Porche.

That's a great point, I don't know how Porsche has stayed in business with competitors out there like Skoda

My understanding is the Rouge 767 fleet is gone. All the Rouge pilots and in flight staff have either been let go or transferred to mainline.

I think AC plans to keep the Rouge Airbus fleet as a separate fleet but it is unclear who will operate it until they start to restaff the Rouge operation.
