post #1106 makes me very hungry to see this.
Looks promising. Bill Pederson is a great architect-designer.
Nice melding of classic-Deco and 21st Century.
Walls sloped like Tower One. Crown of Crystals like BofA.
Crown-shaft relationship reminiscent of ESB.
This is dynamic Manhattan Spirit.

Yea, KPF did an amazing job designing this tower. I'm so looking forward.

@JR
Anything interesting going on at the site? Is the building completely vacated?

Last time I looked (three weeks ago) they had sidewalk sheds up around all the buildings comprising the site.

Hi, VG. There's intetior demo going on constantly on 43rd St.

TD Bank is the only entity which has not yet vacated. Work is still ongoing at its new branch on 42nd and Park. They're moving when the new branch is done.

By the way, I can't wait for Milstein's tower to join this !m

This tower will obviously have an impressive impact on the skyline, but I think people forget about how it will improve the street below. The section of 42nd from 5th past the Chrysler building had numerous low quality, old, rundown buildings which creates a dark, gloomy streetscape. This tower will drastically change that.

I can think of many towers begging to be taller, but aren't!

For it's location on the Midtown skyline, we are in for a treat!
So close to Bryant Park is the bonus!

It's that scrunched crown that just kills me. It wants to reach for the heavens, but isn't.

I'm really eager to see Milstein's plan. Before his plans to raze 335 were announced months ago, I was always curious about all of the empty retail spaces in his tower along Madison Ave. It would be awesome if he builds taller than Extell.

The lots on Madison Avenue show a lot of potential for future supertalls. Once the Midtown East rezoning kicks into full gear, developers will be building tall.

That neighborhood has essentially reached the point where one must build tall and and have a certain amount of space to even make a profit due to land being so expensive. The whole Island is getting like that, which means a taller average height.

Right now for this cycle, in Manhattan particularity, most of the new developments have been an average of 17-18 floors (if we count all of the high rises which exceed skyscraper proposals). I'm hoping that number climbs to 22-24 for the 2015/16 cycle.

I couldn't tell if TD Bank has finally moved out, though they appear to have. However, huge signs in the window announce its relocation to 42nd and Park.

That would be fantastic, but that would definitely block One Vandy's Northern views from the planned observation deck!
