The second entrance via Marginal Road is such a long detour for most people (South Enders excepted of course) that it's not really an alternative at all.... although it's probably better on Saturday mornings given the current traffic mess! None of this effects me though as I come in on my bike and am able to cruise right past all the stopped cars

The Port Authority's stance regarding the Marginal Road entrance really makes no sense. I don't know why they continue to lock it at night when there is no gate on the Seaport side. Essentially, it's just a blockade and doesn't provide any real security since you can drive right up to it from either side when it's closed. Faux-security that's just a nuisance.

I don't really get how it 'dosen't take advantage of the view' in the first place. It's not even fully finished yet and already provides some great views of St. George's Island, once that rooftop garden area opens (which along with organizing the vendors in the way they're intended to be will do wonders for freeing up space for foot traffic) it's going to provide one of the best views in the city.

I finally had the chance to visit the site in-person the other day, albeit not on a market day. Holy crap, it's HUGE! I wasn't prepared at all for the scale of the building from the pics and renderings, and it'll only open up even further when the roof is open. And it's perfectly located right across the street from the Garrison brewery! I really wish Calgary would get on the ball with something like this, there's so many great projects sprouting up downtown yet their market is held in a dumpy old warehouse in the old military base.

That whole stretch of the waterfront is shaping up to be quite something, and it'll only get better when/if the Salter Street projects gets off the ground.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to visit while I was in town but it has turned out pretty nicely. I like the little plaza and the way they finished off the port authority building.

The waterfront webcam shows the building nicely: http://www.novascotiawebcams.com/

It also has an old panorama of the waterfront. What a difference from the old grey wharf structure.

That's a fantastic difference from the panorama to the webcam! Too bad the it doesn't show the progress on the NSP site as well. I bet an aerial with NSP, Seaport and Hollis development would be amazing.

He was situated just across the new road previously on a raised seating area in front of the PA building. Lookign at the angle and vegetation present its where the photo you posted was taken. Here's a 30-second edit using Bing's bird-eye view showing the old location;

They need to take down the paper but I think it looks great.

It is a good example of a modern looking building that also has a local connection - wooden walking surfaces, old pier structure, etc. The library can be something similar, though it is a much larger project.

That's a gangway for berthing cruise ships. I believe it is movable as there are shots of this view without it.
