The Taggart Group are proposing to construct a 5-storey retirement residence containing 117 units and common amenity space including dining room, activity room, hair salon, theatre, chapel and medical wellness centre. The building will be linked at the ground level with the existing 8 storey apartment building. There will be underground parking for 44 cars and surface parking for 72 cars.

The property is located on the south side of Varley Lane just west of Teron Road in the Beaverbrook community. The property comprises a land area of approximately 3.2 hectares and is currently developed with an 8 storey, 85 unit rental apartment building comprising 1 and 2 bedroom units. Surface parking is located at the front of the apartment building. Vehicular access to the property is from Varley Lane via Varley Drive and Beaverbrook Road.

The building has been reoriented and has lost 3 floors on the west wing.

I'm assuming they are leveling out this hill and removing all the large pine trees in this photo? That won't be popular.
Do you think they dropped the floor levels for 'greater community level acceptance'?

Still forming my thoughts on the development.

Edit: Confirmed* All of those large white spruce will be removed. I'd rather they find a way to do the parking lot w/o removing them. They would offer a lot of privacy between the two buildings.
