Project 365

I hope it's ok if I make my own thread here in the general photography section. I'm sure some of you know about the photo a day for a year thing, so I figured I'd share amongst you guys who appreciate some photography!

Here's my first picture:

1/1/11: San Diego Convention Center

A good friend of mine inspired me to start my own 365 photo project. This is going to be sweet.

This is going to be tougher than I thought, and it's only first day!

I figured I'd start my 365 photos with a picture of an M3 (get it...3...365...I'm lame). My girlfriend and I went to the San Diego Auto Show tonight. It was fun...I'm not really good at writing these things, so bear with me.

More to come! (One each day actually. )

Camera: Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XS
Exposure: 0.02 sec (1/50)
Aperture: f/4.5
ISO Speed: 1600
Focal Length: 18 mm

I was there, too! I could've bought you a $4 pretzel.

All kidding aside, looks like a fun project.

I took a pretty cool picture of an R8........I'm thinking I should've used it...but oh well!

It is pretty fun! Just sucks when all the pictures you took didn't come out good, like today!

1/2/11: Saigon on Fifth

Nothing too special about this picture. But it sums up what I did tonight. By far my favorite pho restaurant in the city.

I headed over to Balboa Park to test out the new tripod I picked up today. My long exposure shots just aren't coming out no matter what I do and I can't quite figure it out. They used to come out just fine. Perhaps my camera just needs some fine tuning? I'm not sure...but I will get to the bottom of it!

Camera: Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XS
Exposure: 0.05 sec (1/20)
Aperture: f/5.6
ISO Speed: 1600
Focal Length: 34 mm

Nice start so far! I'm going on my second year of doing the 365 thing and it's incredibly rewarding at the end of the year but can be a little daunting at times.
Good luck!!

Ok, cut me some slack.

I did indeed take this yesterday, just too busy to upload it.

1/3/11: ...I don't know.

IMG_2480 by derekabrahamadour, on Flickr

It was raining today and I was busy running around doing a bunch of random things. I saw the sun peeking through for a brief moment so I whipped out my camera and got a quick shot off.

I have also begun my search for a new camera today...no luck so far.

Camera: Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XS
Exposure: 0.0004 sec (1/2500)
Aperture: f/20.0
ISO Speed: 100
Focal Length: 105 mm

1/4/11: My backyard.

IMG_2497 by derekabrahamadour, on Flickr

This was actually the very first picture I took today playing around with my telephoto lens that I haven't really used in forever. It looks like a feather duster.

Still looking for a camera but the people I've emailed on Craigslist aren't emailing me back. I hate when people do that!

Camera: Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XS
Exposure: 0.0025 sec (1/400)
Aperture: f/8.0
ISO Speed: 200

I know you're just messing.

My main goal is to just get better at photography and see how far I can come in a year as I am really just a beginner.

1/5/11: Dead.

I didn't really feel like doing anything today, so I just took a picture of this dead flower being held up by a spider web. Yay.

I did however finish my search for a new camera today! Ordered a refurbished T2i from Canon.

All part of the learning process, dude. My pictures from Spain two years ago came out terribly. But hey, it makes a good excuse to return!

1/8/11: Porto.

This is Porto. The awesomest bearded dragon ever. Hopefully when my new camera gets here on Monday I'll be a little more motivated to get out and take some cool pictures...

1/10/11: Torrey Pines.

My T2i finally arrived today so I headed down to the beach to test it out!

So far, I love this camera.

I definitely have a lot to learn, too.
