I have little use for this project and I’m getting weary of Onni Group bringing their Minneapolis ways to Chicago.

They need to get with the program that projects in downtown Chicago don’t need this much parking. Perhaps their executives just don’t really spend much time here.

Nice glad to see another 40 plus story tower break ground!

I believe they've been forced to do this on multiple occasions by NIMBYs.

That doesn't seem to be impacting other developers who have pulled off projects with much lower parking ratios

Isn't Onni Group also developing Old Town Park/Atrium Village? They did a good job of wrapping the parking podium on the first tower and the second has a much nicer ratio of parking-to-units.

Anyone heard anything on this development? Website for the project seems to have expired...

From Curbed September 2017:
Quote:
The booming Fulton Market district in Chicago’s West Loop is getting another major office project. Located well within walking distance from Google’s Fulton Market outpost as well as the under-construction McDonald’s headquarters, the plan from Latsko Interests will see a 10-story masonry and glass building planted at 375 N. Morgan, the site of a notorious condo development which stalled out in 2005 and led to a corruption investigation within the city’s zoning department.

Cladding on Home2Suites on Clark - looks like it is too loose - and pop rivets ?

Will it wind up like this at 750 N Dearborn (Asbury Plaza)

I just got back from Eastern Europe and this looks exactly like every soviet era communist apartment block that I saw. Also are those air bubbles??

FitzGerald

Remember 633 S. LaSalle? Turns out it will be one of the first US locations for The Collective, a London-based chain of co-living spaces. Small (250 sq ft) individual rooms with baths and kitchenettes, 381 in all, organized into suites like a dorm for young professionals. The Dept. of Buildings wants them to have short-term leases, rather than operate like an extended-stay hotel. Their London experience has been that not all residents are young; at their London Old Oak project, 15% of residents are over 35. Lots of amenities for residents, of course, and ground-floor lounge and cafe supposedly open to the public.

They say they're ready to build, but Ald. King (Motorists First Party-4th) has been holding up their grant of privilege in the public way (for two of their caisson bells) because they have no onsite parking.
