Nice pics jjs5056! The view down Central is looking good.

I hope the surface parking lot on SE corner of Adams/central gets developed with something, maybe 4-5 stories in-fill.

You may recall during the boom there was rumors of an aLoft hotel going there, which would've been perfect. Nothing too tall can go there because the old Phelps Dodge building somehow has CC&Rs protecting their view to the north. So something of the scale you're talking about would be all that could go there.

Yes, I was imagining an Aloft there the whole time I was strolling on Sunday. Any chance at that reviving? I think they are building one in Tucson now that had been postponed?!

A hotel would be perfect or lofts above retail. Office would be a waste... That area desperately needs some life to tie a few pieces together- the Convention center to the Hotels to Hannys to Monroe (Ghost Lounge (is that a real place?) and Seamus) to CityScape...

The saddest part of this is that there isn't even an Albertson's in the complex!

I fail to see how a normal use of billboard advertising is "sad".

It's sad because it's such an ordinary ad in what should be a major public space. When I think of big ads I remember seeing in Times Square, I don't think of milk for $1.79, I think of iconic ads such as Brooke Shields in her Calvin Klein jeans. Seeing mundane ads for grocery store sale prices just reinforces the perception that CityScape falls short in terms of being a defining public space for Phoenix. If CityScape were truly special, the ads there would be distinctive -- linked to major events and product launches rather than routine sale prices for commodity items. At least it's better than the one of the ads previously in that spot; it was for bail bonds.

You guys are unrealistic sometimes. Billboard content is not location specific, and it's just a billboard.

This place shouldn't even be muttered in the sme sentence as Times Square.

True, but I personally think billboards in general (I'm not talking about building mounted signage) are tacky and completely unnecessary. One of the best things about Tempe is that they don't allow them (there may be a few grandfathered locations). But as soon as you get into Phoenix or Mesa? Visual clutter of the worst variety.

To have such a thing sitting on top of the building at your downtown nexus? A new building at that? Deplorable.

Advertisers pay premium prices for certain locations, but clearly CityScape is not among them if it's running ads for bail bonds and supermarket milk. Your comment about Times Square is essentially correct but only reinforces my point. The mundane ads on these billboards add to the impresion that CityScape is not much better than most suburban intersections in terms of its value to advertisers. From a PR point of view, it would be better for CityScape to have no billboards at all than to have ones that remind people of how it has failed to become the signature project its developers and enablers promised.

advertisers pay premiums for certain locations... high visibility ones, which Cityscape is not, compared to, say, 16th street and Camelback.

I noticed today that the re-bars are a lot taller than the previous floors when they are at this stage. Does anyone else notice the longer length or is it just me?

How many floors are completed?

I believe the last floor is for the two story penthouse, so this may be the last floor they do and would explain the longer than normal rebar.
