they show some weird stuff in that site plan.

- there is Lougheed Parkway with way too much greenery
- Lougheed also has too few cars on it.
- Great Northern Railway, went out of business in 1970 to become Burlington Northern Railway, went out of business in 1996 to become what it actually is, BNSF.
- they show what looks to be SkyTrain's on the railway, not the 3km long trains and coal trains there actually are
- then that pedestrian overpass, will this actually happen? i hope so, its a good idea. though who knows with these developments anymore.

i think it is a bit misleading. but i guess when you're selling offshore and they'll never come here, does it matter?

I recall seeing something about a ped overpass in a planning doc. Can anyone corroborate?

I have been meaning to say the opposite of how disappointing they are being only barely visible from anywhere but up close. All for towers look very similar. From Metrotown they are next to impossible to tell apart due to the orientation being the same as well.

I was thinking it wouldn't be noticeable at all.

What's with the "F*** the public" podium? Shouldn't that shit be illegal by now? They couldn't cover those 4 levels with single-loaded corridor apartments and townhouses?

Technically, if you see any complex with a lawn it's usually surrounded by hedges or a fence because it is and always has been illegal to trespass onto enclosed private property.

Elevating the podium like this just makes the fence taller, is all.

That's really just the downhill side of a big wide retaining wall filled with parking.

Phase 1B seems to have a better podium treatment since it faces future Concord buildings.
It could be that the existing downhill condos didn't want eyes looking into them (?)
There's also a wide green buffer.

Isn't that the part of the podium that's above-grade parkade?
(the ventilation louver panels give it away)

Besides which, considering the fact that those levels of the podium are below the Skytrain guideway tracks, I'm not exactly sure how saleable any units you placed there would be.
Especially considering the fact that rest of the towers are essentially on top of stilts to ensure the residential portion starts above the level of the skytrain tracks.

The "public" portion of the podium with the amenities sits on top of them at the level of the "V" and "Y" stilts

I wish the current heights would be final for Phase 1. I like the variation and it looks good in the skyline, so I am slightly disappointed by more floors to come. It also looks like a ridiculous wall of condos when driving westbound, in a good way. Incredible density and I only wish Lougheed Highway would be six lanes through Brentwood.

I wonder if they can make those parking meters along 4400 block by wholefoods no stopping for at least rush hour 3-6pm weekdays. I guess we’ll find out in 20 years once all Brentwood core along lougheed is developed

I get that north facing units should start above the skytrain guideway, but the southern exposure has unobstructed views and is a huge missed opportunity. I'm not even thinking in terms of what the public sees (since it's just facing the property line of a school), but in maximizing saleable value. In Burnaby it's probably easier for the developer to just add more floors, than to complicate the parking structure with access to those lower units... laziness

Yup, but they still could have been fronted with townhouses on the south side facing downhill with access from the parkade
(assuming that setbacks provided enough width to the south and it didn't unreasonably narrow the drive aisles of the parkade).
They could also have included a skinny strip of office space like on the Smithe side of the Dolce and Vita condo parkades in downtown Vnacouver.

I wonder if they'll install a fence on top of the near-side retaining wall just past the small shrubs?
