The lack of accountability is amazing.

There's a lot of disappointment up there, and they know it's probably not going to get better in the immediate future, so they look for people to blame. Also, to be fair, Nicholson was asked specifically about Rieder.

Flames take the battle of the Tkachucks rd 2, Matthew looked pretty strong, Brady wasn't as noticeable. Tough days for Ottawa too, though there is reason to be optimistic about the upcoming draft now lol.

Words. I have no words.

- Montreal up by one with 8 games left for both Columbus and Montreal. Go Carey!
- Colorado is in eighth by virtue of goal differential with Arizona, with both teams having 8 games left.
- Kucherov up to 120 with 7 games left.

Wouldn't it be something if Colorado gets to make the playoffs and gets the number one pick in the draft.

That could go down as one of the all time fuckups. You never know though, Tkachuck may be a better player than either Hughes or Kakko in the end, some players just don't pan out in the NHL and that kid does look pretty good (about where Matthew was in his rookie year).

I'm confused. You make it sound like Ottawa gave up their first rounder for Tkachuk. Tkachuk had nothing to do with Ottawa trading for Duchene from Colorado. He's also on pace for half as many goals as Matthews had his rookie year.

I howled with laughter when I heard that. Like hey, your team has a -35 goal differential, but some depth guy's 10 goals are the reason you're missing the playoffs Forgot about the bad trades and signing Koskinen and Lucic, It's the fault of some player I've never heard of.

It's not complicated really, Ottawa gave Colorado a first round pick as part of the Duchene trade, Ottawa's choice in either 2018 or 2019. Ottawa chose to use the pick in 2018 and drafted Brady Tkachuck, leaving Colorado with their first round pick this year. That pick is obviously going to be a top pick, hence the comparison between Tkachuck and either Hughes or Kappo. And I was referring to Matthew Tkachuck, not Matthews in the second part.

Ah I didn't read that well. I thought the 1st round pick was conditional on placement.

Yeah it was a first round in either '18 or '19, no conditions. There was some drama around Ottawa using the pick this season (shallow draft year mostly), but I figured there was no way they would draft higher than #4 and it would be a good pick... lol

Ottawa made the right call. I'm taking Brady Tkachuk in that situation 10 times out of 10.

Melnyk is talking shit about the Leafs rebuild in a season where the Leafs should break 100 points. What's with the shitty management trying to deflect onto other teams or players? Melnyk is such a tool!

He's certainly leapfrogged all the current owners to the top of Mount Lousy. I believe the last two seasons has vaulted him into the talks for who is on the Mount Rushmore of lousy NHL owners. Ballard, Wirtz, Katz and Melnyk.

The whole interview is a goldmine.

"The next 6 months are going to be critical for Pierre and the operations group to get their act together..."

After I didn't let them try and sign Karlsson, Stone, or Duchene and have no first round pick this year.

The guy is blaming everyone for his screw ups and low attendance but himself. The Mayor, the media, the fans, his former partner in LeBreton (now battling with him under $1.7 billion in lawsuits). He's a complete farce and the league is somehow still backing him up after 3 years of total chaos.

I'm routing for all the Canadian teams making the playoffs this time, including the Leafs!

Flames 101 Points

Flames beat the nucks and go over 100 points for first time in 13 years. The nice thing about the Flames being second overall is the Jets, Habs, Leafs, Oilers, Canucks fans (apologies if are there any Sens fans here) stopped posting the Canadian team standings long ago!

Standings don't really matter at this point to the Flames, Jets and Leafs. They're all good teams cemented in a playoff spot and will be judged on how they perform there.
