Land swap

Interesting item on tonight's Dieppe council meeting agenda: A land swap between the city and Expansion Dieppe.

Wondering if this connects any dots with the buzz a few posts above. What's afoot?

Thanks for posting!

I agree, I think there is something very much afoot here, and I'm sure this is a precursor to a major development in the offing for downtown Dieppe. I'm particularly interested in "Parcel A" above.

I believe the T&T thinks so too, but they have hardened their paywall, and I can't currently access the article.

There is an article in the spring issue of DieppeMag that talks a bit about the future of downwtown Dieppe. Here is the link (article is on page 14) https://www.dieppe.ca/fr/vivreadieppe/dieppemag.aspx

There's not a whole lot of details on specific developments, but one thing I find interesting is the images in the article. I've never really seen these renderings before but they appear like they could be in the vicinity of parcel A.

I apologize if this has been posted already but I'm hearing that the City of Dieppe has agreed to provide land and will match provincial and federal funding to build an indoor tennis facility near the aquatic centre off of Pascal.

A group has been trying to convince Dieppe to build such a facility for many years now.
Dieppe telling them that the city will buy in to this if the province and feds do sounds like a brushoff. Unless the city actively lobbies the prov. and feds. and also places this facility at or very near the top of their priority list, it will be a long shot honestly.
Telling this group that they'll pitch in if the group can convince Ottawa and Fredericton to each pay one third of the cost is simply a polite way to say, "go away."

While a new indoor racquet court facility would be nice for the metro area, I think metro Moncton should start to get serious about looking at a real field house with a full sized indoor soccer/football field. Halifax has such a facility, and the new field house being built in Saint John looks like it will be top notch.

The inflatable sports dome at the CN Sportsplex just doesn't cut it. It's not full sized and is poorly maintained.

If the city is to support year round training for field sports like soccer, a proper field house should be built.

Yep..and Moncton is taking on an incredible amount of immigration from countries where soccer is the sport of choice. Imagine the use a facility like that would get on March break or over the Christmas Holidays.

Not a cheap franchise to bring in. Wonder if the owner of the current location might be interested in it though

Don’t know the rules with BP, if they have protected territory or if it offered to a nearby franchisee first, but if its made its way to the website, probably means he passed on it or they don’t allow a franchisee to have two?

In addition to Dieppe, Boston Pizza is also looking for franchisees in Bathurst, Amherst and Summerside.

Thanks, and welcome to the forums!

I also see that the signage is now up for the new Copper Branch restaurant in Place 1604.

There's fencing up across the street from Home hardware on Acadie. Anyone know what's going on there?

An excavator has been parked there for a few weeks now. No idea what the plan is though.
