I'm mildly surprised to see that BC doesn't seem to have any full systems interchanges (4 way all way), not even legacy cloverleafs. Are there any examples I am not aware of?

There are several three way full system interchanges.

The 99 / 17 (SFPR) is perhaps the closest.

The 99 and the 91 in Richmond? But directly to the west the freeway ends.

Is it perhaps related to how many of our highways are shaped by the mountainous terrain and don't always meet on a perpendicular?

That is definitely a big part of it.

Most highways here meat at three way junctions.

I think the 99 / SFPR is the closest we will have to a 4 way free flow junction. Though I think now it is missing one of the eight directions.

You cannot go from Hwy 99 WB to Hwy 17 NB, nor can you go from Hwy 17 SB to Hwy 99 EB.

I wonder what the interchange of TransCanada / Lougheed Highway would be considered. It seems more like a very short concurrency instead and is made all the more complicated by the Mary Hill Bypass.

Strange as WB to NB is usually a simple movement.

It seems that for some reason they don't want Hwy 17 to be used as an alternate to Hwy 91.

It also has 6 out of 8 directions. Definitely a very unique interchange though and a huge improvement over the equally-strange interchange that used to be there.

That movement was going to be added as part of the scraped (thanks NDP!) highway 99 upgrade / bridge project that would have been long completed by now.
