Autonomous trucking company Einride to set up US headquarters in Austin after raising $110M

https://www.bizjournals.com/austin/i...new-us-hq.html

Brent Wistrom - Editor, Austin Inno

Austin has since become one of several tech hubs paving the way for autonomous vehicle development and testing. That includes, perhaps most notably, the decision by Ford and Argo AI to make Austin the center of their self-driving vehicle efforts. The pair is set to launch a forthcoming robotaxi service in 2022 that will make autonomous vehicles accessible to everyday consumers.

Now, Swedish autonomous electric freight vehicle company Einride is planning to establish Austin as its U.S. headquarters later this year after raising a $110 million series B funding round, TechCrunch reported.

I know we've already been an autonomous car place for years now, but it's tempting to drop this at Tesla's door. I have a feeling -- just like battery technology, or Samsung and chips -- the Tesla effect is going to spread out in all kinds of different directions.

Green Dot joins corporate exodus from California as fintech firm moves to Austin

Quote:
KEY POINTS
Green Dot, a fintech firm and biggest U.S. provider of prepaid debit cards, is moving its headquarters from Pasadena, California to Austin, Texas, CNBC has learned exclusively.
The firm will focus on four hubs – the new headquarters in Texas, as well as WeWork-style offices in Florida, Ohio and California – as it embraces a permanent remote-working model.
"I want the best and brightest people we can find to join our team to help us be successful, and you can live anywhere you want," CEO Dan Henry said. "I'm not Jamie Dimon, I'm not going to force you to take the train three hours a day."

...."Parts suppliers affiliated with Samsung Electronics in Texas already believes the plan is almost a done deal,” said a source in the semiconductor equipment industry, indicating that the negotiation has inched closer. “Still, I’m not sure when the announcement could be made, since there are a wide range of factors to be taken into account.”

Samsung has chosen Austin Texas as its next 5nm EUV factory location

https://www.sammobile.com/news/samsu...tory-location/

Samsung has finally decided where it will build its new EUV semiconductor manufacturing facility on US soil. The company reportedly had a choice between the states of Texas, Arizona, and New York, with each offering incentives for tech giants who’ll end up contributing to building the local chip-making infrastructure. And according to the local media, Samsung has decided that its next EUV-based manufacturing facility will be built in Austin, Texas.

Seems like Army Futures Command could be added to this list too.
