Yikes, didn't know it opened yet. Strange, I wonder if this is the bartender/Mgr ownership duo from the their now defunct DT location. But yeah, pricey Italian is the way to go as owners, pure profit. It's one of those places that would be a one-off at the most.....

As I had it explained to me from an operator of a rather nice Italian place in Calgary, they make scads of profit on their pasta dishes. So pricey Italian, even more so.

Wonder if it is the same ownership group as the Lessard one. Loved that one. Sat At the Chef Table (Bar in the kitchen area). Had a great meal and conversation. staff was some of the best in the city. Mind you I still like Cibo Bistro the best. .

We tried Vivo at the Lessard location last year. It was very good. Food was exceptional.....as was the final bill for 2.

200 bones all in. Course i had a couple of whisky drinks and rum.

Good, but not good enough to darken the doorway to often.

DAYUM!!!!! Right on. I've got to check that out next time I'm in town. I dearly miss the old German restaurant that was a block off Whyte. That place was awesome.

And an Albertan-brewed doppelbock? For real? I've got to give that a try.

Haus Falkenstein is the WORST!

Their meals are overpriced. They use canned ingredients (and dare to charge you extra for "fresh" ingredients). The schnitzel batter flakes off the meat. And all the extras are premade frozen crap.

They should not even call themself a restaurant.

A Calgary-based fast-food staple will soon be permanently parking in Edmonton.

Peters’ Drive-In will make the commute north and set up shop between Calgary Trail and Gateway Boulevard north of 51 Avenue after more than 10 years of searching for the opportunity, said Stephen Hayden, who purchased the franchise with his wife Joanne Rowe in 2005.

Peters was good at one time....maybe 10 years ago. Everytime we stopped in Calgary we would try Peters, except the last few visits to Calgary. During our visits there in the last couple of years and it was just ok. Something changed.

^Agreed. I actually stopped at the Red Deer one on my way back from Calgary last week and I commented to my wife as to how unimpressed I was with the burger. Onion rings were greasy, but the shake was good. I’ve eaten at the 16 ave location for 35+ years and it’s definitely gone downhill. $16 for single burger, rings (huge), and shake (too big, only one size) and I have to say I prefer McDonald’s, which is too bad.

I'm in the minority of Albertans who have never been to Pete's.

For as long as i can remember, Matrix is always mentioned in right ups about our city. Is this because Travel Alberta always puts them up there or something? I'm sure its a fine hotel, but its literally every article...seems strange.

I wish them well with the opening, but the line-ups were never worth it in Calgary. There are also too many good quality burger joints around now for Pete's to stand out.

My folks usually stay there when in town, it's still a decent place but getting a little tired. The folks like to go for walks in the evening so it's a much better location than hotels further east being close to the Leg grounds and the area is not as sketchy as hotels further east from there.
