Re-visited a faithful old standby the other night after having not visited for a couple years: Sofra (Turkish cuisine). It's just South of Grant Mac on (I believe) 106th St.

If you like Mediterranean food I highly recommend it. Flavours are great. I had the lamb loin with grilled prawns. Some of the best I've had in quite some time.

The pita dips are great, too (unless you don't like garlic, which would be crazy).

Wow this sounds great. Have not heard of this place. I will have to try in the coming weeks.

Sofra is a hidden gem for some and a regular haunt for many others. Delicious, but make resos to be sure.

For Lease is now up at Bistro India (116 St/102 Ave). A pity they're gone for keeps - their food was quite good, especially their chicken biryani.

Noticed that Chic-Hog-O's is now open in the old Rose Bowl space. May they finally have a long, trouble-free existence.
Local Public Eatery is having a hiring fair on Dec 20 so they are very close to opening.

So I haven't been to La Boule pastry shop yet but one of the vendor's at my job dropped off a big box of pastry goodies. And.... I kinda went ham on them, no willpower. Hugely impressed by the quality of these pastries, definitely have to go check out the shop.

Bingo.

Have Mercy with the OSBA, delicious and fantastic.

Glass Monkey, my dish of homemade pasta, pork shoulder and mush was fantastic, everything else was decent. Curry salmon, spaghetti bol, beet chev, hanger with chimi.

I have zero problems with the portions and price at MEAT. Hell, 1/2 lb is great for trying different meats with someone else. Brisket, smoked chicken, sausage... all so good. Nevermind their house pickles, brussels sprout dish, etc.!
