I think, in both places, it mostly means former Soviet Union or other Eastern bloc country.

True, huge concentration of former Soviets in NYC but there's decent numbers in many other cities as well.

Chicago and especially NYC still decent numbers of foreign born Europeans in "white ethnic" enclaves, though most arrived decades ago and they're obviously aging.

Should have said "elite" immigrants make up larger share of Europeans in California, not that they dominate the European-born population.

It would be so nice if people on this forum would remember the "-Fort Worth" part and stop suggesting that Dallas alone is on the same level as Houston.

It largely is. Even if you lopped off Fort Worth and it's suburbs, Dallas would probably be the size of Atlanta or Miami which are on same level as Houston.

Not to go too far off on a tangent, but Dallas and Fort Worth are each divided into separate Metro Divisions so they each have their own "sphere" of sorts.

Houston Metro Area.............7,066,000 Population
Dallas Metro Division............5,081,000 Population
Fort Worth Metro Division......2,491,000 Population

Well, the census bureau's official numbers arent out yet, but we know that Texas' estimate was overcounted by 200,000+ so your figures are likely going to shrink a little.

Wow so according to this, Forth Worth alone is bigger than Austin and San Antonio and almost as big as a metro like Charlotte. Impressive.

Then there are the "unauthorized immigrant" populations which certainly add to the mix. https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tan...ed-immigrants/

The Census Bureau counts them too tho. I'm sure some go uncounted but I dont think they miss that many tbh.

Never mind!

Actually, considering how bizarre 2020 was, I'm not sure I trust the 2020 Census results.

Wow, Orlando has a shit-ton of immigrants. I know Orlando is diverse, but I wouldn't have guessed that many immigrants.

Also, this probably underplays the immigrant feel, since Orlando has a gigantic Puerto Rican population, probably second largest in the U.S. after NYC now, and PRs obviously don't get counted as immigrants, even if they're culturally basically immigrants.

Also, a lot of Latin Americans, especially Brazilians, keep vacation homes in Orlando area, given the insane Disney obsession among middle/upper classes in Brazil.

So New York has at least 200,000 immigrants from each region. L.A. however is #1 for Latin America, East and Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Bay Area is #2 for East and Southeast Asia.

If we expand to Canadian cities, Toronto is the other city with 100,000+ immigrants from each region.

Do you have figures for Hamilton CMA and Oshawa CMA so one can get an approximation for Greater Toronto - Hamilton? Likewise, do you have figures for Abbotsford CMA and Chilliwack CA so one can get an approximation for the Lower Mainland (Fraser Valley)? I suppose an approximation for the Greater Golden Horseshoe (Toronto, Hamilton, Oshawa, St.Catharines-Niagara, Brantford, Guelph, KW, Barrie, Peterborough) would be nice too.

I'm guessing the foreign born population of Greater Toronto - Hamilton is around 3.3 million, the Lower Mainland is around 1.2 million, and the GGH is around 3.8 million.
