Are there any other US cities that are named after a state that that they are not located in?

Specifically, I'm looking for "_____ City", where the blank is the name of a state that the city ain't in.

You know Missouri became a State before Kansas right? By almost 4 decades

KC MO was a town in 1850. Kansas became a State in 1861.

If anything the State of Kansas should be forced to change its name

Two that come to mind immediately: Nevada City, CA and Virginia City, NV.

There’s a suburb of Houston called Missouri City.

Tucson metro is majority non-Hispanic Anglo, which is decidedly unlike El Paso metro which is supermajority Hispanic/Latino.

Whenever these types of questions are asked, my mind always goes to the following:

Well, what is a ‘natural border’? Answer: something which can be defended by both sides such that a peacetime equilibrium exists at that specific location.

Well, if considering military defense is necessary to establish where natural borders are, then the OP question implicitly presupposes the breakdown of the United States and the consideration of the military defenses of whatever successor state exists after that collapse.

Following that logic:

El Paso and Las Cruces are their own thing and could anchor their own nation-state. Whenever the United States inevitably collapses (whether that be in the next 10 years or 500 years from now), El Paso and Las Cruces will surely end up neither a part of Texas (too geographically isolated to defend) nor a part of New Mexico (too culturally distinct and far flung from a weak and resource poor geopolitical center) and could end up part of Mexico (if it doesn’t also collapse in the ensuing chaos) or more likely end up as its own nation-state in combination with Juarez with a hinterland in every direction of easily defendable mountain borders and a series of specific chokepoints between then and any invading army from Tucson, Albuquerque, Chihuahua, and anywhere in Texas.

Technically plurality non-Hispanic white, and only just, probably will shift plurality Hispanic next census. But I get the point: not nearly as Hispanic as El Paso.

Something like this:

Note that in desert conditions, rivers are rarely borders because they represent the only arable land worth defending. Deserts, mountains, and unsettled spaces between these drainage basins are borders.

My impression of St. George is that it's extra Mormon. Isn't it close to FLDS land? Culturally, it's more Utah than SLC proper.

Yes, St. George is absolutely a center of wacko right-wing religion.

For example, anyone who has been vexed by all of the cloying, manipulative "Balance of Nature" commercials should know that the cultish company is headquartered in St. George. It is staffed by hardcore Mormons but managed by Scientologists. Look it up.

Idaho Falls and Pocatello feel like an extension of Utah tbh

I guess Rexburg too - maybe more than those two other cities since it's extremely LDS (and hope to BYU Idaho).

St. George is also extremely white. It's almost 90% white compared to Clark County, which is 67% white.

It might have the sunbelt vibe but it's very much a Utah city. Hell, it's still in the Salt Lake media market despite being hundreds of miles south of it.
