When is the Wilshire Grand going to update to the new Pepsi logo?

^ That's actually the Korean Air logo. WG is owned by the Hanjin Group, which owns Korean Air.

They do look pretty similar. I have some friends in LA that aren't in the know and they actually refer to it as the Pepsi Building. I think a decent amount of Koreans actually prefer Pepsi over Coke as well since it resembles the Korean flag.

I'm not normally a huge fan of faux historic architecture, but that Nashville tower is badass. I also really like the new museum wing in Houston. It looks like it's created some cool spaces to exhibit art in.

For Los Angeles, my favorite building constructed this century is probably the Wilshire Grand, though the Lucas Museum could be a contender once it's finished. The devil will be in the details with that one, but it could be a real show stopper if it matches the renderings.

For Cincinnati, it has to be the Zaha Hadid designed Contemporary Arts Center (2003). It's Hadid's first American building, and the first American museum building designed by a woman. It's striking at street level, and its contemporary design stands in stark contrast to its surroundings, but the interior spaces are really where the building shines. Stairs appear to float from floor to floor, galleries can be completely rearranged for different shows, and there's a porosity to the building that makes the interior feel seamlessly integrated with the outside downtown environment. It's a must visit if you're in Cincinnati!

Agreed with edale on the CAC.

For Columbus, we've built...a lot...but my personal favorite these past several years is a subtle building known as the National Veterans Memorial and Museum. As an old landscape architect, I appreciate the park flowing into (and on top of) the building.

That's funny
When I went near the top of the US Bank tower when they had the OUE skyspace and glass slide (both me and my Pops went down the slide) I couldn't help but think how much Wilshire Grand did the spire cheat

Wow, I did not expect Nashville to win the thread so resoundingly! Thanks for sharing, Bna. Probably the single best job I’ve ever seen of emulating the 1920s Gothic style.

Glad to share! I agree, she's a stunner. Once in awhile we get a thing or two right. To be fair, when you have Vanderbilt University money, you can afford to invest in the fine details.

The Nashville tower is part of a group of new tudor revival dorms built along West End Avenue where 1960s-era public housing-type dorm towers stood previously.

Here are some of the brand-new dorms:

It's all part of a branding campaign to make Vanderbilt look more like an Ivy League school - to basically invent a history it doesn't actually have.

They're obviously not historic, hence their inclusion in a thread entitled "Your City's Best Building Built This Century."

Why do I get the feeling that if someone brandished a Nashville hot chicken leg at you, you'd hiss and scurry away like a vampire exposed to a crucifix?

Here's a controversial one...When flying into or from Fort Lauderdale's airport, you can't miss this "interesting" building (technically it's in Hollywood, FL):

LOL! No, the Federal Aviation Administration did! They use powerful lights at night (at set times or else it would be annoying)for the missing guitar handle:
