Gratenya Airport

I am not dead! Sorry about my loooong absence, I had to get an entire new motherboard and graphics card as my old one literally sizzled to a very sudden and very painful death.

Anyway, I'm back on SU with my somewhat quicker computer and decided to do another airport, focusing this time on lighting and detail more so than Los Angas, so many of the updateswill be done at night, as this is when the true beauty of an airport is seen.

Thus far not much is done, but I'll give you an ickle teaser shot of the progress so far:

Enjoyeth!

Oh; by the way, the airport's name is pronounced Gra-tan-ear

I cant do planes, they look pathetic, so if you put your 737 on the Warehouse (I believe it's a 738 with winglets, don't quote me on it though) it may be yours!

What method do you use to paint the airplanes? It looks like however your doing it, you're able to put much more complex designs than I...that, or some of those must have taken you many hours!!

I use the intersect with model method, but that puts unsightly edges wherever the color changes...bah, I'm so confused!

And OllyRogers, can't wait to see more!! Great job on the lighting!

Anthony

Hmm, Kerky's giving me an interesting error message when I try to render a night shot with two planes in it...

"Some errors appeared during rendering - please check console logging..."

I shall persevere [sic] and press on, but I'm not sure if it'll let me render, which unfortunately means no more night shots, which is annoying as that was my main point of it. But meh, I'll try and find a way round it and see if it works!

Good detail and very nice renders! I haven't tried much night rendering, so it will be interesting to see how big shots you can render.

I feel like the tunnel should be deeper into the ground. Airplanes can be pretty freakin heavy. The stress of the weight, the vibrations from the engines, they can all greatly affect the runway/tunnel roof.

Other than that it looks great!

Actual footage of a plane crossing a bridge... that looks like the rendered bridge...

Thankyou for your feedback, and yes the bridge does seem thin on first glance, but I was basing it off these pictures of Leipzig-Halle airport in Germany:

http://www.leipzig-halle-airport.de/...ollbruecke.jpg
http://www.leipzig-halle-airport.de/...en/rb_west.jpg

Which seem similar to the thickness of my bridge. Also, let's not forget that my bridge is less than 200' long, with the underlying supports stretching off under the taxiway

WOW!!!

How do you do your taxiways? They look outstanding! Waaaaaay better than mine, anyway, haha.

Taxiways, bridges, roads, everything you got so far looks awesome! Can't wait to see more!

And if you ever want a broader selection of airplanes to use for your model than just what's on 3D warehouse, feel free to PM me.
