UK airport thread

Anyone from the UK here, wanting to see a British-themed airport - complete with Easyjet, Ryanair and good ol' Speedbird?

Here's some test renders of what I have thus far, and the level of detail I wish to go to (apologies for the image size - smaller monitors may need to scroll!):

I will still be working on Gratenya in my spare time - I may chop between projects as I go.

Comments/ criticism welcome

Wow, thats some serious level of detail right down to the ticket dispenser's slot for the carpark. Are you sure you can keep that amount of detail up for an entire airport. I'm from London by the way, look forward to some more UK details.

That's what I plan to do - instead of starting mass projects on it ehre and there, I plan to do it all in small stages, i.e., finish one bit and move on to the next. That way I don't get stuck forgetting what needs to be done on certain bits

Incidentally, the business parking area I've used is not dissimilar to that of Heathrow, as it is my "local" airport (locla major airport, anywho), a lot of my design will be based off elements of it!

A shade more completed - sorry about the tree quality, best low-poly tree I could find on the 3D Warehouse!

No UK airport (especially Heathrow) is complete without NIMBY's.

Given time I will do more "airporty" shots. I'm more interested in the nitty-gritty shots at the moment - everyone posts pictures of just the airport on here, for this project I'm more interested in showing how the airport fits in with what is around it - transport links e.t.c. =]

Nice..I like your nitty gritty shots. Maybe we need an overview/map soon to get a sense of the layout.

The level of detail is so great that it deserves better trees and grass. Check out Kerkythea's Instancing Brush tool.

It's all good saying that, but I'm thinking ahead to render times and the amount of poly's in the model - it's struggling at the moment (I have to hide things a lot of the time), but I shall press on. Those trees should look fine from a height, anywho
