A brief project done for school that I had to abort for various reasons, but ended up liking a lot anyway. I never got to show it to anyone, so I figure I'd at least publish it here. Renderings of a building this scale take much longer on my dinosaur of a computer so someone out to appreciate them. It was built with Rhino, not SketchUp, and rendered with VRay. The photoshopping could use more work, but, again, I had to scramble and come up with something entirely different at the last minute.
It's located on the pier adjacent to Herzog & de Meuron's Philharmonie Hall in the Hafencity development area of Hamburg, Germany. It's approximately the same height (110 meters) with two lobbies and three peaks. It wouldn't be all that practical, but the shape came from a stipulation of the program. Let's just say it's multi-use. The strong vertical fins shield harsh morning and evening sunlight and give the building a vertical emphasis when viewed obliquely while the structure is apparent when viewed more directly.
