Thanks for the suggestion.

It looks good if I can just photoshop the Madonna wannabe out of the picture .

Excellent choice, KP. Now if you can photoshop the library near the business end of that machine, you will have nailed it.

It has a watermark but this photo shows what the NFB building used to look like. Apparently there was a phase when the tower portion had been partially removed. The dormers looked nice. Not sure what the new ones will end up being like; the renderings suggest that they will be simpler modern-looking additions but maybe they'll splurge and do a more accurate historical reconstruction of the detailing. Either way the building will look better when the mansard roof is reconstructed.

You can also search for more photos in the Herald archives. Unfortunately, they seem to be trying to monetize these by getting people to order prints.

I find it hard to believe anyone found that building attractive even when new.

It's funny that they're only now getting started on some work, in mid November, after the development was idle all last spring and summer.

Pour the concrete, gentlemen!

Winter is coming. And we know what comes with it...

So are they mixing it by hand with a shovel and a wheel barrow???

That would certainly explain the "break neck" speed by which this develop is proceeding.

they have been digging in there for a while, but with small equipment.
today it looks like they pumped a few truck loads in with a trailer pump. Im guessing footings..

It's great to see progress on this. Whether or not you like the facade, it's hard to see how an occupied building here won't be a huge improvement over the empty shell.

I'm waiting for someone to start a movement to preserve the black and white portraits that have filled the window openings for the last 20+ years.

It is good to see a concrete truck.

It would be great to see what is going on inside. Ziobrop, can you see inside from the top of the Nova Centre?

I'm just glad that there is progress still happening. I think this will be a great addition to Barrington and look forward to it being finished... someday.

I have been curious about what construction has occurred within the NFB building. I was able to get a screen shot from this youtube aerial video posted by Keith_P in the Skyline Pics of Halifax thread - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EM_vee0Tnas

Guys, guys, guys. Come on! This is a massive development. We're talking 3 units plus a kitchen. If all of these units come online at the same time, it'll suck up demand for downtown housing for a decade. Maybe developing 1 unit every other year is more strategic.
