It has a watermark but this photo shows what the NFB building used to look like. Apparently there was a phase when the tower portion had been partially removed. The dormers looked nice. Not sure what the new ones will end up being like; the renderings suggest that they will be simpler modern-looking additions but maybe they'll splurge and do a more accurate historical reconstruction of the detailing. Either way the building will look better when the mansard roof is reconstructed.

they have been digging in there for a while, but with small equipment.
today it looks like they pumped a few truck loads in with a trailer pump. Im guessing footings..

It's great to see progress on this. Whether or not you like the facade, it's hard to see how an occupied building here won't be a huge improvement over the empty shell.

I'm waiting for someone to start a movement to preserve the black and white portraits that have filled the window openings for the last 20+ years.

I'm just glad that there is progress still happening. I think this will be a great addition to Barrington and look forward to it being finished... someday.

Guys, guys, guys. Come on! This is a massive development. We're talking 3 units plus a kitchen. If all of these units come online at the same time, it'll suck up demand for downtown housing for a decade. Maybe developing 1 unit every other year is more strategic.
