I second crane will be for the Lund Co development called The Josephine. Work is very much underway.

Also, when Silver Venture gets started on their residential building, that’ll be three canes in that two/three block area.

I wish Kevin had a diagram thread so it would be easy to find his Google 3D models of all these buildings.

Here's a rough modelings I made of the complex's going up near the Pearl. Mira, Josephine, Borden apts and the Silver Ventures Elmira apts. Guesstimated heights on the others based on floor count but should give a decent idea. I agree a separate thread on Google renders would be good though.

Maybe you could start one with these renderings.

Would be nice if one of the boxes would be a new arena for the Spurs.

It was just a guesstimate of what they proposed at Hemisfair based off some of the renderings. Made this a while ago just to see potential future density but only a few of the massings saved for some reason.

None of those sites would even be remotely close to large enough for an NBA sized arena. Plus, even though I would love to have a new urban core built arena for the Spurs l, with the almost 200 million in upgrades done to the att center a few years ago, a new arena isn’t a need right now nor for another 10/15 years at the earliest.

Actually, the Borden apartments site is about the same size as American Airlines arena in Dallas, minus parking. Take part of the DPT Labs complex for garages and you'd be in business. Not that I think we need to be spewing out public money on a new arena of course, but they can be fairly compact if need be.

Edit: Bad geometry on my part, they're both on parcels about 200,000 square feet, but since Borden is a long rectangle instead of a square it wouldn't work. Still, my point is you can build a great arena on a fraction of the land the AT&T center covers. In fact, if you take a look at other arenas, the AT&T center has an almost uniquely sprawled out site, most NBA arenas are much more compact, even the suburban ones.

Funny my office and I were having this discussion yesterday.

I came up with the best locations for a new arena.

Location 1: Where the Institute of Texas Cultures is. Close to convention center and dome.
Location 2: Alamodome parking lot. Close to St. Paul Square which could develop more.
Location 3: Fox Tech baseball field, and the empty lots around Flores, Pecan, and Martin Street. Possibly need some street re-alignment to make it work. It be close to Frost, new condo, and San Pedro Creek!

I don't know the status of Fox Tech, but an agreement could be made that part of the construction on the site includes building a new school facility(s).

Fox Tech is a really good idea. Also close to the pitched river walk/creek connector (right?)

Another couple of areas that are near downtown are Lone Star and Essex. The arena and development could go on the lone star site, and parking could be built at Essex near the highway. Have Musk bore some tunnels between the site for shuttles.

Directly over the pitched connector.

Or if he could upload the map somewhere so we can explore ourselves.

There a promo video, interactive 3D viewer and rendering on their website. It will have a great view of downtown, at least in the near future until something gets built a few blocks away.
